Counting down now with 19 days left until the 2009
reenactment BBQ being hosted this year by The Julian Doves and
Desperado’s from Julian, California on August 8, 2009.

YOU ALL COME NOW, YA HEAR???

This exciting week-end event is being held at the Menghini
Winery – Julian, California. Located about three miles North of Julian,
this site can easily accommodate many, many dry-camp tents, trailers and motor
homes. The gate for access will be open at noon on Friday, 7 August and
everyone is welcome to stay through the afternoon on Sunday, 9 August. An ice
making machine will be available for moderate use but please bring an initial
supply. The Winery is also providing a cold storage site for food items and
liquid refreshments. Non-potable water is available. A porta-potty will be
available. Many picnic tables are available along some covers and a stage for
impromptu use ???

Driving hints: the google map shows access via Wynola
Road, turning at Wynola off of 78/79. Please be advised that this is a very
narrow road with sharp turns and overhanging branches SO may I suggest that you
continue on into Julian, turn left at the first four way stop onto Wynola Road,
continue on for about three miles to the next four way stop, then go straight
thru onto Orchard Road with the parking field entrance to be on your left
before the Winery (look for my aluminum trailer).

For those that are looking for accommodations in Julian,
please search julian.com then click on the lower left hand side to Lodging and
then review the various listings (15 Bed & Breakfasts; 11 Hotels, Lodges,
etc.; over 60 cottages, etc. Several are providing discounts so please indicate
that your attending the 2009 Reenactors BBQ at the Menghini Winery.

Our own D&D’s Snake Julian has arranged for a
group table at the Santa Ysabel Casino on Friday evening ($4.95 prime rib
dinner with all the fix’ins). Anyone desiring to make this dinner should
call Krisie direct at 760 468 0338 not later than 5 August for reservations
(the Casino will provide direct buffet access if we get eight or more for this
great dinner). The Casino is about seven miles from the Winery, about a twenty
minute drive, or stop there on your way into the event. Otherwise the waiting
line can be several hours long for this great meal.
