Proposal
Lets add weapon color kits, similar to armor color kits. Smiths or Artisans could make them. It can be another item for lower level crafters to make and sell. I propose that weaponsmiths create the items. They can be gifted with each weapon, and also sold individually.
Justification
Easier to find just the right weapon, at a glance, in a fight, in Heroics for instance, where speed is of the essence. Putting 4 or 5 suitable pistols in the skill bar, they are difficult to visualize and differentiate, due to the weapons all being of similar coloration, and changing from an acid weapon to heat, in some instances, for example, and rapidly is necessary. I want to be the most fabulous Pistoleer in the instance. I want to enable the group success. A win-win for everyone in the group. Imagine if you will: a Green Acid Pistol.
Motivation
I participate in heroics groups at least 4x/week. Its a consistent issue, locating just the right weapon, quickly. Whether it is a HW or a Pistol, it is important to me to be on time, johnny on the spot, participating in the group effectively. It definitely slows me down. The skill bar boxes are an opportunity, that needs an upgrade. The dark colors, decreases differentiation in the skill bars. Imagine coloring my acid weapon a bright green, or the plasma; pink, the heat: orange.
I am tired of not being able to identify my weapons at a glance. IMHO it would be marvelous to be able to color our weapons, like we can our armor.

Couldn’t you just use an icon to represent the weapon on the bar? What you're suggesting would, in my opinion, kill some of the Star Wars aesthetic and make this game look a lot like Fortnite or other first-person shooters where everyone is running around with bright gold or neon-colored weapons.

It would make eyes bleed

Why not just a macro with an icon to choose between weapons?

Doesnt a macro itself ruin the hands on feel? It does for me. I dont rotate my weapons with a macro. I am not familiar with fortnite, or other FPS. This isnt a FPS. I am not using a macro. I highly doubt it would make mine or others eyes bleed. :). a Macro, to choose between weapons, is not logical to me. thanks for your input. I appreciate it.

I don't really see why this is the specific solution needed to address the problem of needing to be able to quickly identify weapons for switching (can't you already just do that via toolbar/macro?)

the icons, of my guns, are not that large. And frankly, they appear so similar, that its hard for me to differentiate between my mando weapons, A KIT, would be a self-initiated venture. Its a skin change. I need specific weapons, at specifically on the fly times. How is my having a weapon skin slightly altered going to affect your gameplay I wonder? I cannot fathom, how a "macro" would alter the visual, and maybe you care to educate me how a "macro" to change weapons, would work in heroics? Perhaps its the nomenclature, or the fact that I have been here less than a year? I just dont understand. Perhaps you can lead me down the path you consider the correct one? I want a visual change on my ICON. :) Anyway thanks for your input.

Hello Twink,

Maybe I'm misunderstanding.

If it's just your Action Bar you want to color, then I’m fine with it. I assumed you wanted the gun's actual color reskinned in the player-facing view.

If it’s the former, I'm fine with it and don’t see any issue. If it's the latter, then I think it’s a bad idea and would make the game overly garish.

I still stand behind using a macro with a unique icon to represent the weapon in your action bar.

Hi. I am not certain what you mean, by "macro". Are you referring to the ICON, representing a certain weapon? I just want to be quick on the elemental and quick draw. Please educate me on how to choose a 'unique icon" for my weapons, so that I can easily figure out which is which? And if so, how on earth do I make a "macro" corresponding to each weapon. I truly don't believe that the tinted weapons, (which by the way, is optional,) will make anyone else's eyes bleed, even if it were "live." I don't think that I can remember which "icon" is which weapon, let alone how to attach the icon to a particular weapon. However, maybe you have a solution for that. I am not a young shaver. I don't know. I really don't. It seems to me not a huge request. It also seems to me that a possible "tint" option, or a way to make the icon-boxes larger, is not harmful to anyone else's concept of perfect of what it "should be". i played 20+ years ago. Lord forbid something new is introduced? I believe it happens in this game. I can visualize the concerns. I have no idea what would be "easier data application," tinting the screens, making the skill boxes larger or smaller with the options. you stated, "I still stand behind using a macro with a unique icon to represent the weapon in your action bar." I do not understand how to create that, or make it clear enough for me to differentiate which weapon is represented, at a glance. Maybe you could educate me. People who play, know more than the confusing cut and dried wiki. I am not a noob, I am a returning vet, who was the 4th Jedi on her server. So, please help me to understand. I thank you kindly for your consideration. I look forward to your reply and possible solutions.

You can create a macro that arms your DE10 and is a green icon. Now you press the button on the toolbar that’s your macro the same as you would for your pistol. Its the exact same hands on feel of pressing the toolbar. This is a simple explanation but you should read about making macros. It would be super easy to do. And example would be /ui action toolbarSlot12; this is the macro and you choose a green icon for it. Then you put your acid pistol in slot 12 of the toolbar (start from 00). Now when you press that green button it chooses that acid pistol.

With that said I would be fine adding an option to change the toolbar color for each square (if even possible), but changing the actual color of the weapon would look goofy to me.

Actair,

thanks for your kind and clear macro explanation. I get the general jist, of this, and will have someone help me with that, I have made macros, for healing. I am not sold on me being able to identify my weapons with different icons, and I will examine the icons available, forth-with. perhaps an Icon Maker, so that we could make our own icon, to read: DE10, for example? I admit I have never done a macro that's action plays from the toolbar. Nor is it very clear, to my brain just yet. I am heeding, your advice, for now. I am not a quitter. :)
