Add mannequins for tailors

Add mannequins for tailors

Proposal
Give tailors the ability to pose and dress mannequins for retail use
Justification
Provide more accessibility for tailors to connect with customers
Motivation
Giving tailors more tools for engaging with player economy
Allow tailors to place poseable mannequins in their structures which they can outfit for retail use.

Customers can bring up a radial menu on the mannequin, with the ability to try on the outfit (if race allows), and purchase all pieces of the outfit at once.

A menu pop up can confirm total price before purchase.

The mannequin itself can store factory crates of each item for sale.
As the outfit is sold, the quantity decreases.

So a tailor can do a factory run of an outfit: 6 pieces, crate of 20 for each piece, and the mannequin will hold and sell 20 complete outfits.

And additions, changes, or other suggestions welcome.

I think one of the biggest hurdles to tailor is convenience and accessibility.

This would help in that regard.

Clothing can already be displayed, by simply "dropping" in a house.
Existing vendors can be dressed in outfits of the merchant's choosing and can sell them.
Customers trying clothes on before buying is a feature of one on one tailor servicing. I'm not sure how you could automate that to be afk. Currently there is no way to equip an item unless it is in your inventory. At which point it's yours.

Perhaps they could borrow the same feature that exists when showing equipped vs appearance. Examining a mannequin brings up a window like examining a player does. The bottom left check box could be "show on self" instead of show/hide equipped.

Yes, clothing can already be displayed, and vendors can be dressed, and trying on items csn be done one-on-one.

But this change is aimed to give tailors more accessibility. I think outfit shopping should be fun, easy, and convenient. Tailors dont have baked in business like meta chasing or item decay at the same pace as other professions. So i think ease of use for the customer is a good place to start in bringing tailor more involvement in the player economy.

Thats all this PV is really doing.

I would suggest going a different route.

Add to Architect the ability to craft said Mannequins in the furniture line. Use for example the "Weird statue" but add storage internal like the furniture. Allow for a few different models based on species. Basically take the Vendor Asset but make them stills. Make the base appearance editable by Image designers. Allow the storage feature to allow the owner to drop clothes "inside" but have a toggle button that opens up a view window where you set the image. Basically use the same format at the setup screen but the image and items pull from the Players owned asset. Player can name the Mannequin similar to a pack.

Eliminates the need for trial and error on getting a good looking model. Incorporates Architect and Image designer into the mix. Move furniture commands would move the whole outfit. Changing an item on an ensemble wouldn't be the hell it is to drop and move or constantly losing goods dropped on a vendor. No need for maintenance fees or going up the whole merchant line to run a business. If a person moves their shop pack up is like picking up travel packs. Naming asset means user knows what ensemble to look for on Vendor and examining the asset shows the names of the gear in the window view.

DE could be incorporated as well by making lighting & sound modules for the asset.

Could be a special schematic via quest line for trader.

recommend adding this when we collect topics to discuss at our roadmap preview Galactic Gathering as we can talk about both the hologram mannequins coming with Nar Shaddaa as well as the Tailor Coloring Session concept in development that are relevant to this

THat is great news, thank you.

I would love to see mannequins since they totally make sense and would enrich the shopping experience at tailor shops!

I mean, the idea is perfect, but the implementation is the problem. There's three different things you want.

A posed mannequin would likely be the easiest thing to implement for the dev team.

Ability to purchase the outfit on the mannequin would need custom coding as I don't believe it exists in the game.

Same with trying outfits on, would probably require instance awareness (if they leave the shop the outfit tried in is removed). And it feels like it would be very complicated, as right now I can't Appearance Equip without removing a previously equipped Appearance Slot. Seems you may require being naked on appearance to try things on. Again, custom code, I don't think this exists anywhere ingame.

I will upvote, but I feel developers would have a hard time with the second and third options.
