Allow Droids to be Dancing Pets for Entertainers

Proposal
Allow Droids to be Dancing Pets for Entertainers - add a module DE makes and installs in a droid at craft to accommodates this ability.
Justification
Musicians like myself like the option of having a playback droid for when other musicians aren't around! And I am certain dancers would love a dancing droid with special effects as well!
Motivation
Stimulates DE trade, gives Entertainers an way to have a a dancing pet and playback/effects
Real simple idea - Let entertainers use a droid as a dancing pet in addition to the current living pets. This way, musicians could have a dancing R3 droid that plays music with them, and dancers get a dancing droid with special effects. I think this would stimulate more trade for droid engineers, as they would make a special dancing pet service module that would be installed as any other module on craft. Droid customization and paint kits would see more trade as well - we ents like to look good, and so do our little friends! The droids would need some form of animation, not just stand in one spot. I think this is totally doable and would be a lot of fun!

EDIT: This would be 100% contingent on you HAVING the Build a Buff pet collection COMPLETED, not bypassing it. And its intention is not to make one man band style ents who aren't social, we already have that with holograms :) The droid would do exactly what the current pets do, with the small addition of letting people throw an extra instrument into a song, or add a few effects to a dance perormance. Or you could teach my Rancor to play a Bandfill, your call ... hehehe

Just as an fyi:
We can’t make new animations at this moment in time because of some technical limitations with the modern tools that have been set up to work on SWG. Existing animations can be reused for different purposes.

I’m not sure if animations of droids dancing was part of this request.

I'd be happy with a simple reused animation, but it's not a deal breaker! The main emphasis would be the dancing pet buff and being able to combine the ability in a Combat/General cluster with other entertainer modules like playback/effects. I could program a little waypoint route for the fella to "dance" with :)

Keeping in mind I know very little of the entertainer professions but am a master DE and therefore am down for anything bringing more to our favorite metal pets. I could have sworn I’ve seen dancing holograms of existing entertainers. Is that not a thing generated by droids? If not, it should be.

Droids should be able to generate a holographic replica of their owner and the owner could possibly control it by sending it flourish commands.

Is this intended to be a visual only thing like the other effects droids have?
Or is this supposed to enhance buff duration like the current dancing pets do?

If its giving the same benefits as the regular dancing pets i am against it, because it would just be a shortcut to bypass the Build-A-Buff collection - which reduces long-term progression and devalues achievements of those that have invested the time to get it

If its visual only im up for it.

Could it count as an extra entertainer to accelerate the buff length similarly to watching a dancer and listening to a musician gives double speed? This would allow solo entertainers to offer similar speedy buffs in more remote locations while also providing an extra visual bonus.

Edit: I should add, could you tell me more about the build a buff thing so people like me are aware of what it brings. I would agree with you that if we just implement a craft which bypasses a hard to get collection, it’s a bad idea.

This is also a horrible idea, this literally removes the social cooperative aspects of a social class.
It also discourages entertainers from playing together.
This would be fine on a dead server - which this one is not.

Not an entertainer myself - But from what i gathered:
Its a collection where the entertainer needs to buff essentially a player of each class 30 times.
When completed it allows the entertainer to train a pet as "dancing pet" which increases the total buff timer for their buffs from 5h30m to 6hours.

@Entertainers corret me if im wrong with this explaination.

I was more thinking of allowing entertainers to populate underserved locations in the galaxy without needing a full band and being able to give out the same speedy buffs people would find in eisley. This is all in an effort to move people out of mos eisley to make the rest of the galaxy feel more alive as it used to be. I do understand your point though and I can agree that it would take away from the social aspect.

Thanks for the explanation about the collections. Makes sense.

it also adds +2 to the duration timer uptick

They want to keep Mos E as a central Hub. https://discord.com/channels/109347519493914624/929448510414274640/1331317389870104607

<insert random AI is killing jobs joke here>

Seriously tho. Im an entertainer and im sorry @paladinblue i am not with you on this one.
Just by theme droids are designed as tools. It does not make sense for them to blow an instrument or play a nalargon when they can have a built in speaker and just playback a song.

We already have holograms in the game for exactly this purpose.
They are also mostly the only real reason to get master entertainer to begin with.
I would prefer seeing improvements on the hologram companions instead.

But generally speaking, we should not turn this more into a solo game where everyone can be their own one man show. if you don't have band members online, that is simply what it is.
We don't need to replace players with droids or npcs.

There is a Dancing droid module already, they run round and drop holograms.

The collection is listed on the DE Special Schematics list, with a video below.

Can you use the current dance animations on the humanoid droids? Not sure of the limitations of their rigging.

I’d say yes if this is simply having your droid dance around with you and no actual benefits.

It may be possible, but it would likely involve reworking all the animation state hierarchies. I would estimate the developement effort of droids dancing as extremely high.

What about the current dancing droid animations?
We have dancing droids now with the Unknown Astromech collection schematic.

If we change this to radial, could we also have numbers and symbols in droid names, pretty please with a Jawa on top?

If they use their existing walking/moving animations like the video you posted above, yes, that would be much easier.

I came here to say this. I am confused by the aim of this PV, as we already have dancing droids (admittedly not a great picture):

(The are all 3 dancing around, spinning, etc.)

I think the goal here is to have the utility of the Build A Buff Workshop - Dancing Pet skill onto a Droid.

Musicians would like to have both the playback/effects and the bonuses
