- Proposal
- Allow players to customize the camera angle used for an item's 3D hotbar icon.
- Justification
- Lets players display ships, weapons, and other items from their most recognizable angle. Improves accessibility for players who rely on visual recognition.
- Motivation
- Many usable items placed on the action bar use a live 3D model instead of a static icon and it often makes the item difficult to recognize at a glance.
Problem
Many usable items placed on the action bar use a live 3D model instead of a static icon. While this is a great visual feature, the default camera angle often makes the item difficult to recognize at a glance. Some weapons appear edge-on, ships are displayed from unflattering angles, vehicles lose their recognizable silhouette, and creature items can be zoomed in so closely that only part of the model is visible. Since the camera position is fixed, players have no way to improve the icon's readability.

Hotbar icons should be easy to identify during gameplay, especially in combat where quick recognition matters.
Proposal
Allow players to customize the camera angle used for an item's 3D hotbar icon.

Players could rotate and zoom the model within the preview window, then save that view as the icon shown on their own hotbars. The saved view would only affect that player's interface and would not change the item for anyone else.
Benefits
- Makes items easier to recognize at a glance.
- Reduces mistakes caused by similar-looking icons.
- Lets players display ships, weapons, and other items from their most recognizable angle.
- Improves accessibility for players who rely on visual recognition.
- Has no impact on game balance, item stats, or other players.
