Blaster FIre Color Selection System

Blaster FIre Color Selection System
This idea/suggestion is Open. You can respond to ask questions or discuss the idea and either vote it up or down if you believe it should or should not be implemented, respectively. Popular suggestions and ideas will be considered by the development team to become reality in-game.
Proposal
Create a system to allow players to choose the color of their blaster shot SFX, perhaps based off the current color crystal system for lightsabers but done in a flavor-fitting way, I.E. tibanna gas cartridges/focusing devices.
Justification
In (certainly in Legends and presumably also in modern) lore, blaster bolt coloration was determined by the particular mix/type of blaster gas used to generate the particle beam and by the focusing device used to amplify the beam. Star Wars media has also been very arbitrary about blaster coloration in general (see: The Clone Wars making all 'good guy' blaster bolts blue and all 'bad guy' blaster bolts red). With these facts in mind, there seems to be ample reason for why people could choose the color of their blaster fire.
Motivation
This is a further development of my PV about the Republic Blaster, based on the suggestion of Arconite himself as well as some discussion made on that previous PV between a few different players. Given the interest in a more comprehensive color-selection system for blaster fire, I figured I should expand the scope of the PV.
The feel I'm getting from people is that they are in favor of the idea of choosing their blaster bolt color, but they want it to be lore-appropriate. Perhaps the use of blaster gas cartridges that piggy-back off of the PuP system would work, or adding an element to the crafting of blaster focusing emitters in order to choose the color the weapon will fire. One idea puts the color choice mostly in the hands of a weapon's end user, while the other idea instead puts it on Weaponsmiths who would supply weapons firing different colors.

Alternatively, maybe possessing a special gas cartridge item (or being near a weapon crafting station) could present a radial option that allows the user to select a color from a color pallet for their blaster fire. There are a number of different ways the system could be implemented, and I'm curious to see where the debate goes!

EDIT: Grammar and spellchecking.

More options like this at the players disposal the better, with Jedi soon getting a new system to choose their LS blade colour, it would be great to see normies do the same. Upvoted! Thanks for posting!

As always I will keep an eye on the post and sponsor after 24 hours & lots of player engagement in here. Cheers!

I was unaware of any new jedi system in the works. My biggest concern with this would've been the increased workload to make such a system work- If it's doable however, I'd love to see it enacted. Upvoted!

Upvoted great idea. The more variety and choices player have in the game the better. @Shines yes it was originally going to be Illum with grow your crystals but that part may or may not still be around. The color crystal piece is and was till talked about as coming.

We can change armor color, I think this makes perfect sense. Could see guilds coordinate for battles or players make their mark using a certain color. Could even have a couple rare colors require a unique rare component, but most colors be common.

I know the obvious would be to involve Weaponsmith, however, this could be an opportunity to involve Tailor through color dyes that Weaponsmith incorporates. This would be similar in concept to tissues involving Tailor + BE, and current crafting interdependencies such as Chef needing BE tissues. Tailor needs more to do.

The best ways to do this is one of two.

1. Locked to Crafting (probably for the best): Either make the type of gas used (which prioritizes the gas that is harvested, making the type both important and lore accurate, whether it's lowgrade/cheap or highgrade/expensive), or the crafted gas cartridge, be tied to the color. So each named gas corresponds to lore accurate color and price, or the crafted gas cartridge corresponds to each color (and can even be named corresponding to lore accuracy).

2. Character Modification (The most free, most lore accurate, but immersion breaking): Similar to what I understand about socket mods, allow all players the ability to modify their blaster with the corresponding gas cartridge that they want (quality can also matter here for damage/rate of fire, etc) for color. This is potentially immersion breaking because you'll end up having all sides going rainbow and the only way to tell visually who is on what side is either the icon or the uniform (and the Empire is really the only uniform group, roleplay and out of roleplay).

Whether it's gas cartridges or crystals (I don't agree at all with the crystal concept, blasters have always been about compressed gas, not crystals), these are the most important aspects to consider. Even if we take both, we'll have the good and bad of both. For gameplay, I prefer the former over the latter. There is supposed to be some uniform to blaster colors, even in real life not everybody gets custom ammunition, often surplus/wholesale, as long as good quality. Very select few manufacture their own to be different from what the next gun is firing.

Edit: Upvoted, of course
Edit 2: Spelling error, also I don't see tailor being able to join in on this. Color dyes just doesn't make sense to me. But outside of lore, yes, mechanically, you could tie tailor to this. Gas Cartridge needing a tailor dye.

I'm liking the discussion so far. There's definitely pros and cons to both crafting side and player side integrations, and tbh I'm not sure which I'd prefer more.

Gas Cartridges or something would be neat. Like a vape shop for blaster bolts! Could even go the extra mile and add bolt effects. Master Smugglers could make an enterprise.

Color customization of blaster bolts is tentatively planned but not committed on the roadmap (and implementation is TBD)
