Change the Republic Blaster's SFX color from white to green.

Proposal
To change the Republic Blaster's bolt and muzzle flash SFX to green.
Justification
This change is to improve the consistency of the game's depiction of the Q2 Hold-Out Blaster (I.E. the Republic Blaster) with how it and similar models like the ELG-3A and the S-5 are depicted in other Star Wars Media.
Motivation
If I'm being 100% honest: the difference in the SFX's color in SWG compared to Episode 1 just bugs the heck out of me as someone who uses the Republic Blaster as their primary weapon.
More or less the title. This is a QoL/graphical change to address a small pet peeve that has bugged me for a while, and I fully acknowledge that this is the most first world of first world problems. I figured I would make a post about it and see what people thought, though, since it is an odd inconsistency that the game has had with other SW media since forever. I also am hoping that it wouldn't be a difficult change to make, and so wouldn't take much development attention away from other issues.

I'm extremely conflicted on this one. It would make more lore sense, and it fits. But at the same time, I'm so much more a fan of having a variety of blaster colors, so it's hard for me to vote in favor of changing things towards the traditional colors.
 
Sure. I'm all for it, also assuming it's comparatively simple. I mean, no one wants someone to spend 40 hours digging around in code, to find it. unless there's overriding, higher tier issues with it.

I don't mind voting for a blaster color changer, since lore-wise the color was just the gas used in the weapon. All you're doing really is changing the gas you load the weapon with.

That's fair. This one just always struck me as very odd.
 
Make more gas cartridges, in which each gas cartridge is a different type of gas, changing the color, corresponding to lore, which locks it to crafting.

Or create a color changing item with limited uses, giving it to everyone which is a little more lore accurate, but then you'll see rainbows everywhere...

That's a nice idea, but I'm concerned about taking too much development time on this. The main reason I brought it up at all is because I figured I'd would be a relatively quick and easy change.

That said, if a system like this wouldn't be a headache to implement, I certainly would like it.

I feel like this would be a similar process to the armor paint kits. I know no knowledge of SWG code though, so I could be very wrong.

Would be a cool addition though.

I do agree wholeheartedly. If the devs could make this work without it being a problem to develop, I'd be all for it.
 
Thank you for the Player Voice - I will keep watching this one for sponsorship. I like the change and it seems reasonable, would just like to see some more player engagement before I push for sponsorship!

Also curious to see if anyone makes a PV about what Aco was discussing....crystals for blasters would be awesome!!!
 
I'm tempted to make that PV. I'm kinda surprised Arc didn't make it himself tbh.
While this is a slightly different topic than the original, the idea of implimenting a color change mechanic for blasters in general is something I am whole-heartedly in favor of, as it would allow people a great deal of customization. If you go ahead with that, I'll upvote that in a heartbeat.
 
It's just a comparison because the other main weapon color change mechanic uses crystals. I imagine that the devs could "flavor" the method of color change however they wish.
Gas or gas cartridges is more lore accurate without having to create a new item category for the crafting process.
