- Proposal
- Create a launcher or in-game utility where players can select a source character and a destination character, then copy saved interface settings from one to the other. Ideally, this would include HUD placement, toolbar layout, chat window layout, keybinds, joystick/controller settings, and other character-specific UI options.
- Justification
- Many players use multiple characters, and each one currently requires manual setup if UI settings are changed, reset, or lost. This becomes especially frustrating when configuring specialized controls such as joystick, HOTAS, or space combat settings. A small settings change can unintentionally reset or alter the HUD, forcing the player to rebuild the same layout across multiple characters.
In my case, I changed joystick settings while configuring a HOTAS setup, and it reset my HUD. Because I actively use four characters, I now have to manually recreate the same HUD and UI setup four separate times. A copy-profile feature would turn that from a repetitive chore into a simple account utility.
- Motivation
- This feature would improve QoL for nearly every player who uses alts, especially pilots, crafters, entertainers, traders, and players with different combat characters. It would also reduce frustration when troubleshooting controls or graphics settings, because players could safely restore or copy a known-good layout.
This is not a gameplay advantage; it is purely a convenience and accessibility improvement. It helps players spend less time rebuilding menus and more time actually playing the game.
Add a player utility to the launcher that allows a player to copy one character’s UI/HUD layout, keybinds, and client options to another character on the same account.
