- Proposal
- Create a Mouse Deadzone setting override in space, so that players using their mouse to fly aren't required to manually adjust their settings between ground and space content, every time they swap between forms of content.
- Justification
- Currently, the standard recommendation for new pilots is to set their mouse deadzone to 75%, to prevent over-responsiveness in controls while flying. However, making this change also currently affects how the mouse functions on the ground. This causes individuals who prefer the way things are controlled on the ground by default to need to constantly swap in and out of the settings menu, changing the mouse deadzone.
- Motivation
- This is a request purely to smooth over the new player experience for jumping into Space content, and to remove a pain point among the Space community.
A common complaint amongst new players venturing into space for the first time is that the mouse control is immediately too sensitive to effectively fly. The go-to advice for such players given by vets is to enlarge the mouse deadzone to around 75% while in space. This, however, also changes how the mouse/camera is controlled on the ground. This proposal is to add an override within the settings menu, allowing one to set the mouse deadzone for both space and ground content separately.
An additional request would be the same sort of override setting, but for mouse sensitivity, but that is, in my view, a lesser priority.
