Proposal
Increase the zoom out view when placing structures by at least double what it currently is.
Justification
With player cities now having a main Regional HQ factional base hub that can't be destroyed, and it being larger than anything we have ever been able to place, seeing the footprint it will take up would be very helpful when planning on where to drop it within city limits when having to factor in other residence.
Motivation
The last thing a mayor wants to do is displace their citizens, and the new Regional HQ bases are HUGE AF. It would be super helpful if we could see more of the grid available and the obstacles in the way when placing such a ginormous structure.
With the next patch focusing on cities. I would like to propose they increase the zoom out range when placing structures (if this haven't already been discussed). With the Regional HQ factional bases being larger than anything we have ever had, it would be nice to see the full grid size so we can plan accordingly when setting up a spot in a heavily populated city.

Not sure if this helps until then but you can try it if you have not already (upvote). It is what they had me do:

User.cfg
[ClientGame]
freeChaseCameraMaximumZoom=9

I already use that for normal gameplay, it does not affect the view when placing structures

Bonus points if you can make tree foliage 90% transparent while the placement view is enabled. This generally benefit harvester placement as well, which can often in the bush.

I think this engine has a really hard time with transparencies. I don't know if the 64 bit client opens up the possibility of more modern rendering APIs, but even that would be a mountain to climb.
