Adding the Instant Message display to Galaxy chat tab, as a default, adding it to local chat would be nice, but less important.
Justification
I've tried to search PVs for the subject being asked, and wasn't able to find any.
Motivation
Helping New Player Experience and possibly early retention.
We've got an influx of new players, and a new, much more stable chat server, and there's a certain level of side-chatter and nonsense that of course, comes along with it. I understand that. But I, and I assume others, will try to respond to a new player's question, and it gets lost in the scroll. I'll often try to send a /tell to them, to "pull them aside" and help outside of galaxy chat. But all they hear is a *ding* and don't know what it's for, or how to find it. we can handle "How do I respond to the yellow letters?!" questions, but I'm afraid a lot of new players are being/ feeling ignored because of the sheer influx of new players. (I suppose they all could be ignoring me... but that seems unlikely.)

The Development Team has provided a final answer on this suggestion. Votes are no longer accepted.
To the last two posts: every one of us here knows this. It's for the new players to have it set automatically default instead of having to be told. When you are new it makes it hard to be contacted by a player and they get lost in the the mix. So a long while back this was suggested. And it's a good idea.

Well it is a good idea that they become familiar with how to create and modify chat tabs in case the need arises. I know it has come in handy having that knowledge for me.
 
This was actually implemented as part of 14.0.3, but only as the *default* (for new clients, installations). I didnt want to mess with existing settings.
