Proposal
Roleplay Rewards & Contests.
Small treats to encourage and inspire people to roleplay, as well throw themselves into their characters and keep going.
Justification
In another old MMO game I used to play there was a system, which rewarded roleplayers who had made an impact with their RP, such as encouraging, inspiring and including others into the RP, having an memorable character, interesting writen background or hosting RP related events, as well staying in character all the time. The dedicated roleplayers often were rewared with something small for it, such as extra EXP, gold, tokens, cosmetic, etc., something to make their RP efforts feel being noticed and appreciated, motivating to keep going.,

Thus I believe something similar could work well within the SWG Resto community here too.
We already have badges for being acknowledged having a memorable personality and background, but I believe we can take it further.

Allow players to vote/ping to the social senator if there is a roleplayer/character that deserve recognition for their RP or host annual contests, where everyone get to shine at the spotlight with their characters, answer potential questions behind them, etc.. All the roleplayers could be rewarded with the Galactic Fortitude Tokens for their dedicated efforts, while the winners could gain rewarding extra like a Veteran Token, badge, credits, cosmetic item or maybe an unique title based on their character.
Motivation
As a longtime roleplayer from the tabletop RPGs and MMOs, my suggestion is purely motivated by my love for such social activity and Star Wars universe itself, wishing it to thrive more within the SWG. To some of us, the roleplay is our main pot of tea within the game and we would love to have more people to share a cup with, as we make up stories and interact together in the galaxy far far away.
Roleplay is an social activity that breath life into the immersion within the setting of Star Wars Galaxy, which is either fun to take part with or simply follow from the sidelines., be they new or old players. As its always feel more alive to witness live roleplayers patrolling as Stormtroopers in public, acting as merchants with their street vendors, entertaining at the local cantinas or rebels having their secret meetings at the abandoned buildings.

Thus I like to propose ideas to encourage it more.

I think extra titles, loot, and cosmetics for RP'ers is a great idea. Maybe some kind of adjustment to the Chronicler system would be the best avenue for it? Might encourage more active use of chronicles and make Chronicler less of a "I'm grinding this out to clear the way to Jedi unlock" and more of a draw for the RP community here on Resto.

I think it would be hard to police the use of the Roleplay tag, as it is something that is supposed to show interest, and locking it prevents someone from doing that. I think rather than locking out that tag, the addition of Titles or additional tags (if that's even something that can be done?) is definitely the way to go.

RP events and contests are entirely player driven. I think we could gather enough RP-minded folks to put together a serious coalition of folks to attend events like city events. The turnout for the Black Nexu Corner Club is evidence of that, I know of our aspirations in the city of Acheron.

Hi guys, these are both excellent ideas, it's usually advisable to make a PV for each individual idea.

I will as always watch this for sponsorship. If there is enough interest after 24 hours, I will sponsor it.

Could I ask you to consider editing this thread, to just be one of your two ideas (preferably the more detailed idea) so that if it is sponsored, the devs know exactly which item has been upvoted by the community!

Cheers!

I haven't had a chance to get into the RP community as much here, but I certainly want to. Anything that boosts this has my support.

Of course, made my edit to show my number one wish.

2. Limit "Roleplay" toggle for actual roleplayers (removed from the post from being voted, as this was only a secondary idea.)
I know this is idea would be difficult to police and might sound awful to some, but personally it sometimes bothers me to see characters with the "Roleplayer" status toggled on, while clearly not being roleplayers, nor putting any effort or roleplaying at all.,

This might be having an inappropriate character name that does not sync with the Star Wars immersion nor setting (like being named after a known character or real person, or just being out of place with weird numbers, etc.). Or acting with an attidute that is harmful for the RP community, immersion and setting, such as constantly breaking character, excluding others, bullying, etc. Thus the option to lock off their access "Roleplayer" status should be an option, until other dedicated roleplayers would vouch to unlock it.

We must mind that the players with the "Roleplayer" toggled on represent the SWG's RP community, giving life to the galaxy around them and those new to the game who love to RP always keep eye for those they could interact and become part with. And one bad apple as first encounter may discourage others from giving a try, or at worst, leave the game.

What I meant by this was to lock the "Roleplay" toggle off from people who have shown not using it for intended purposes nor playing by rules, not about locking it fron the start.
But this idea was not may main proposal, as rewarding the roleplay was the main point.
---
While the players could host their own contest, I was mostly thinking that the social senate could host it as annual thing, with rewards and honor mentions, like we have for the settlements and such. But its good to encourage roleplayers host and run public RP events like Cornerhouse to lure out people and reward for it too,

And I agree that the Chronicler system could use more tuning, as its an ideal tool for RP too.

Staff don’t want to be in the position of judging who role plays the best or whatever so this will need player-based mechanisms.

I am totally behind this. Our RP community is growing big time with all the new players. I would really like to see events that promote RP content and involvement. Great ideas, if I win the Social Senator seat I would love to sit down with you and any others interested in promoting more RP player backed events and content.
Thanks,

Perhaps a system similar to the one used to report Jedi could work but instead of reporting, you're logging an "Immersive Interaction" (or whatever).

You aren't going to roleplay 24/7 in a game designed for grinding. I roleplayed in Runescape, but I didn't do it every second of the day. There is no justification to police the roleplay tag, as it's an opportunity, not a job. Helper, as an example, should be policed, because a new player cannot effectively help or be looked to for assistance, but they can roleplay.

Edit: This also gets into the personal territory of roleplay judgement. I don't want this game to lock people out of roleplay because they don't do it well enough. I multi-para roleplay on some websites, but there's no way I'm going to do that here. If someone doesn't do roleplay to your standard, then don't interact. We don't need a gameway mechanic of judging people.

By toggling off, I mean joke characters such as "Sonic the Hedgehog, Analkin Skywalker, Dad Vaderi," etc. that do not settle well with the RP setting and break the immersion roleplayers try to preserve.. While they may seem harmless to some and I might sound cruel, they're not real roleplay characters.

I would be happy to share some of my ideas and views with anything related to the roleplay,

This seems like the way. Make it simple for someone to think “wow this person is really crushing the RP” and then recognize them. /RPReward

Yep something simple like that. Doesn’t have to be an RP prestige system. But maybe the points accumulated could grant some social related perk or perks.

Throw in a sweetener for the devs, make the “Immersive Interaction” cost 25.000cr per submission. 💰

They are also irrelevant and easily ignored. You're asking for a mechanic that really serves no mechanical benefit and is a develeopmental strain on developers.
