Proposal
A cone effect to help target the little rocks, A larger hit box when near the ship (to many near misses, turn around and chase it down), and a stronger pulling effect. OR make it a radius Effect vs a beam, that can be activated via space command (On/Off) and the pilot just needs to get with-in range to collect..this would make the Y-8 mining ship MUCH more useable for solo players as well.
Justification
Space mining can be difficult in fighters for some players (Me), the tractor beam is to pin-point for shaky hands. The Y-8 is near useless as NO ONE wants to spend time shooting a rock.
Motivation
I'd like to be able to space mine as a way to relax and use my Y-8 for once.
Please adjust the Space Mining Tractor Beam to be a little more forgiving.

A little change in tactics will help you out more, if you chip off a large rock, have your tractor beam running (There is already an on / off toggle and it doesnt have to be in an active group) get within 50-100m of the rock chasing it and then open fire, you will capture almost all of the pieces in one hit, you just have to be close, it may be easier for you than running around trying to capture little rocks everywhere.

I would think a cone would be a little more dangerous for attracting aggro from the local spawns if it hits them and cause you more hassle than its worth.
