- Proposal
- Create a new set of looted weapon enhancements that adds a proc effect to the weapon.
- Justification
- All current weapon enhancements are damage related. Current in game weapon proc effects are often unused.
- Motivation
- Allow greater choice on weapon design by weaponsmiths to cater to the desires of their customer base.
There are many items in game that are obtained as a result of a quest reward or random drop that include a "proc" effect. For example, the Coynite Disruptor Rifle quest reward from Mustafar, includes an effect called Coynite Acid Shock, which applies a Freeze Spike Effect on use. Many of these drop/reward items are viewed as inferior to player crafted devices. While there are a few examples of items that are used over player crafted items, they are not the in the majority of weapons by the player base.
What I am proposing is the creation of a new type of enhancement that adds "proc" effects to a weapon.
In many MMOs, proc type weapons are the preferred weapon choice for all players. Examples found in other games include: application of debuff effects, application of damage spikes, and application of buff effects. More complex examples include enhancements to "threat" in both the threat reduction or threat increase. Without knowing the back end that powers SWGR, I am hesitant to provide specific effects beyond the "Freeze Spike Effect" example, but the intent is the same.
If enacted, the item should be as follows:
1. a tradeable item that can be transferred between players to allow a player to obtain the item via a method determined by the devs. Tradeable allows for the item to be added to the market economy, and allows players to determine the value of the item.
2. Added to a weapon during the crafting process by the weaponsmith in the enhancement slot of the weapon core. giving the player and/or the weaponsmith an additional choice beyond the decrepit/goraz/acklay enhancements.
3. a item that shows the effect in the weapon descrpition after the craft to verify the presence of the proc effect.
4. scalable to allow for future growth of the game, allowing for "epic", "adjusted", "legendary" etc effects to drop.
