Proposal
Consider caps on asteroid resources so they behave like other resources.
Justification
Asteroid resources should not be outside the norm of how resource caps are adjusted in the game.
Some SW chassis and parts will be improved.
Motivation
Currently schematics that call for asteroids that are OQ 500 can not be "capped" like asteroids that are OQ 1000 can be.
Some resources in the game have "caps" that prevent them from getting stats up to 1000. During the original CU, SOE started adjusting for these caps so crafters would not be penalized by having to use resources that are "capped".

Asteroid resources are hard coded to have an OQ of 1000 or 500, these are assigned and not random, as other resources are.

If a game is going to have adjusting for resource caps, it would seem that asteroids that have OQs of 500 would be an obvious choice to be adjusted. But that is not the case.

Would just making all asteroids have a 1000 OQ be the same thing as adjusting the cap down to 500 OQ for those specific schematics? Just trying to figure out the best and most efficient way to attack this.

I agree that it's silly a required component that is a standard 500 OQ doesn't play into a cap like everything else, especially if that is driving down the quality of the end item when it really shouldn't be.

I have heard this being an issue from multiple SW's in regards to asteroid materials a certain adjustment towards them would improve the profession greatly in product quality.

I would prefer that everything is adjusted to 1000 OQ and not adjusting cap to 500 OQ, just for sake of avoiding confusion.

The impacted schems: Elite armor, booster, mining laser (Y-8), and gauss cannon; Cargo Holds (Y-8); all HMV ship chassis; and Mark I,II mining lasers, if adjusted, would make the legacy items obsolete and and many will replace them with slightly better parts; however, it is not so huge a difference that it would mandatory or your gameplay is diminished. Overall, the change should not greatly impact gameplay (PvP or PvE) to the level of causing problems or issues.
Thus, I do support the change to 1000 OQ as a small quality of life improvement.

I am in favor of bumping the OQ to 1000 across the board on these as I don't see a good reason for those at 500 to remain there. Also, the hidden resource caps can be a huge source of confusion and I would rather we avoid those coming into play if we can. Bumping all to 1000 OQ seems the simplest solution.

As a flyer of the Y8 I would love a capped hold. Seems silly that it isn't possible because the asteroid is 500. Any crafter should be able to cap any part in my eyes.
