Proposal
I believe Entertainer mission payouts should be 2 or ideally 3 times higher, and it scales according to the number of Entertainer professions you've mastered, just like combat missions do. I know that's trickier as Entertainers don't have a combat level to scale things with, but it seems right to adjust the payouts.

Entertainer payouts could scale with a concept similar to combat level, in that mastering each of the 4 Entertainer professions could equate to 20 levels, so that if you have mastered all 4 Entertainer professions, your payouts scale to Entertainer 80...but you're still a combat lvl 1.

In addition, it would be great if grouping up with other Entertainers increases payout and splits it among the group who are performing together for 10 minutes.
Justification
If an Entertainer with all 4 professions spends 1 hour doing missions, at the mandatory 10min per mission they'd get 7,800 credits (roughly 1300 credits per mission x 6). Compare this to a combat player who would get about 54,000 credits for 6 missions (9000 x 6), as well as loots/junk/harvesting to increase their payout further. And the combat player could probably do more than 6 missions in 1 hour's time, and group up for even higher payouts.

Combat mission for level 80 combat character (solo):
  • 9000 credit payout for killing 2 mobs and destroying a building.
  • Some junk loot to get a few hundred more credits
  • Time spent: about 6.5min unbuffed.

Entertainer mission for Master Dancer/Master Musician/Master Entertainer/Master Image Designer character (solo):
  • abou 1300 credit payout.
  • Cannot take more than 1 mission at a time. More wasted time running back and forth from a terminal, per mission.
  • Mandatory 10min performing required per the mission.
  • Choosing Dancer or Musician doesn't matter.
  • Time spent: 10 minutes
Entertainers can go to a standard mission terminal, but can only pick Deliver missions (nothing else possible), which are only around 1000 credits each. Again, way too low of a payout.
Motivation
Entertainers make hardly any credits compared to a combat character for time invested. The payout for someone who has fully invested their character in all Entertainer professions possible is just way too low.

Given that Entertainers are already at the mercy of other player's generosity generally for income, it seems completely out of balance for an Entertainer to potentially login for 1 hour, taking missions the entire time, and make only about 8000 credits. Or, they could sit in a cantina and get nothing, as nobody shows up. Not a great play experience.
I think the payouts for Entertainer missions should be higher. They just seem way too low right now.

I'm aware that combat requires weapons, armor, maybe some buffs, consumables, etc. However, if a player is spending the time to do missions, it seems fair to make it worth their time.

Thanks for reading through this, and considering.

I'm kind of torn on this. I did used to be an Ent in live, but consideration also has to be applied that although ents currently buff for free, that really doesn't have to be the case. This seems like an ask to increase terminal payouts so that you don't have to charge for buffs and honestly, I think that this server has aged enough that some kind of cost per CL can start to be established among the Ent community.

That said, I don't see a reason why those terminal payouts can't be bumped. After all, combat classes have a multitude of avenues for credit generation as well. And I'll just keep the BH terminal payouts to my smiling self...

I adjusted some amounts in my post as Entertainer missions only payout about 1300 credits, for some reason i was factoring it by 2000 credits. Entertainers can only do 1 mission at a time, for 1300 credits. For 10 minutes required playing time to get rewarded.

I guess I'm not understanding the correlation to charging for buffs and getting mission payouts. My proposal has no impact or relationship to buffs/tips/cost of buffing or lack thereof.

I'm just saying, if I spend the time to do a mission, I should get some kind of payout worth the time. 10 minutes of SWG for 1300 credits is really, really pathetic income. For anyone. Let alone someone who spent enough time to level 4 professions fully.

Truth be told, I sometimes travel the galaxy to look at different cantina locations. It would be interesting to be motivated to play in different cantinas, just to play there for a while and maybe run into someone else who either needs a buff or wants to jam. Grouping up could benefit payout just like it does for combat folks.

I just mention that because from a design perspective, SOE always intended the entertainer's main source of income being players. So, every mechanic you see in game is tailored to that philosophy. The main UI mechanic for that income is the charge input in the buff window. And I'm saying as a customer that I would like to see that used more, and from a game perspective that it should be your main source of income.

Unless there's a PV to radically change that which I'm not aware of?

But again, as I said, I don't see a reason why the mission terminals can't get a bump, but that bump *has* to take into consideration the currently unused funnel of credits. That's because it's there, ready to use, just unused at the moment, therefore if you bump the mission terminals too much, and then the ent community decides to start charging, that could easily result in too much incoming credits.

Honestly, this is why, even in live, I NEVER used the entertainer mission terminal. Absolutely not worth it.
Would be nice to see some kind of revamp.

An increase in entertainer missions would be a nice change. I do agree that most of an entertainer's income should come from socializing and buffing other players. I believe that these missions also should be more profitable. I did some testing on them and they are still quite buggy in some aspects. I've done a bug report and plan on having them looked at and adjusted. Some send you to locked cantinas and others to cantinas that are not even there.

Probably because the combat character might die...... the entertainer might miss a shuttle. Its a risk reward thing.
Would be interesting if Player Cities could post a payment system or similar but might be open to abuse. Basically something to populate player cities rather than have the ents clustered in Mos Eisley.

I made a PV a while back proposing a few improvements to Entertainer Missions (or at least what I think would be improvements :p )

Maybe the scaling could be tied to the buff points system? Just a thought.
