- Proposal
Let Shipwrights make ship deeds, not just blueprints a pilot has to take to a Chassis Dealer to be made into a deed.
Chassis Dealers can still remain as space junk dealers who buy space loot.
- Justification
No other crafter in the game makes a "blueprint" that an NPC needs to turn into an actual usable item. Weaponsmiths make guns, not blueprints of guns, Armorsmiths make armor, not blueprints of armor, Tailors make clothes, etc.
- Motivation
Ever since I was one of the first SW on my server when JTL went live, I have hated the Chassis Dealer. I have no idea why SOE came up with it. I can only guess that it was a pure "credit sink" and their plans were to add more in other professions. As is, it's a pure anomaly, seemingly directed solely at pilots and shipwrights.
Brand new players must find this confusing why they can't fly this ship they just bought from a SW.
End the tyranny of the Chassis Dealer. Let SW make ship deeds.
Would love this. Upvoted. Unfortunately I think the devs wouldn't be fond of losing a credit sink.
I don't disagree, what do we do about the bazaar search split? The issue already exists that new players are confused about which filter to look at. I am curious, if you could have a chassis dealer in your shop and just turn the chassis into deeds, then mark up the price for it, would you?
True, the current bazaar search for ship chassis would have be for what we now know as "deeds" as blueprints would no longer exist.
No I would not want a Chassis Dealer in my shop next to my vendors

I have considered taking all my blueprints to a chassis dealer and then only selling deeds, at a higher price. I don't because I can't see pilots understanding the difference between my deeds and other SW blueprints, and why mine (justifiably) cost more.

I agree with the justification for this one. There are a few discussions that will need to be had if it were implemented.
Full agree. And Maxal about the discussions that will need to happen if it were implemented, shouldn't we spitball/discuss them here?
Well, besides the issue with how vendor search will find the deeds, there would be an issue with existing blueprints, do they convert, or not?
I'd prefer no increase in resources, just a straight deed instead of blueprint, but maybe the devs will want to see pilots still paying what they would now, instead of just getting a deed without paying the chassis dealer?
