Missions on terminals only in the direction the player is looking to

Missions on terminals only in the direction the player is looking to
This idea/suggestion is Open. You can respond to ask questions or discuss the idea and either vote it up or down if you believe it should or should not be implemented, respectively. Popular suggestions and ideas will be considered by the development team to become reality in-game.
Proposal
When you want to accept a mission, right now the direction is random. There is a possibility to remove the rng and add the direction of the player. For example: If the player is looking towards west, only missions to the west would be displayed.
Justification
This quality of life change would not affect the economy nor the balance. It will just save some time and reduces frustration and time you are not playing.
Motivation
I have seen it working on another server and it is just awesome. It reduces the annoying search for the correct target in the correct direction.
More love for Missions!

There is code out there where you can radial dial the terminal and choose which direction you want your missions.
This would probably be a lot easier to implement.

Be nice if this was skilled tied, not just thrown out there. But it would probably add a qol for the server itself regardless. We all just keep refreshing until the RNG serves up what we want anyway. Creating all those potential missions must add some degree of database overhead.

I could see the direction you’re facing having some drawbacks to players not used to such a mechanic and thinking it’s a bug. However I could see (like mentioned above) an option to choose a direction in the menu when searching for missions.

Would be abused.
Place terminal near water/edge of map, force missions to spawn much closer than they should.

I would have to go back and check how it works on SWGEmu (appreciate the code is different so it might not be as simple on Resto) but I don't think it showed any missions if it couldn't spawn them (/it was near an unspawnable area/boundary). Like at New Perdition the terminals won't show missions to the West (because it can't spawn them in water) so if you selected West there it wouldn't generate any missions.

surely it would make more sense to just be able to select the direction you wish the mission to be shown in, via radial options?

On another server there was a ranger made module which would provide charges to be able to select direction of mission terminals, I personally felt it was a nice little touch which gave ranger a little more purpose.

You realise this can be done already? The original post suggestion is just a QoL improvement on the current system which only allows you to save time by having to refreshing the mission terminals less often.

I think its a decent idea

Adding some (hopefully) extra justification with some of my experience:

The main benefit for this, at least to me, would be for Scouting purposes. Being able to get mission in the same direction for a certain creature can take a long time, particularly if using an alt too.

A (painful) example is when trying to gather milk: depending on the planet, there are usually only a few creatures that you can milk and constantly refreshing to get missions in the same direction for the right creature can take many tries depending on luck, each cycle. Noting only 3-4 spawn (and not necessarily all female/milkable) when solo, and multiple characters can't milk the same animal (understandable but means grouping to go milking isnt really a thing), and you can only milk creatures once - ie milking is painful and it can take many cycles of missions to get a setup that you can get a decent amount farmed. Being able to at least select the mission direction would be great.

This of course applies to meat/hide/bone/eggs, and if searching for new resource spawns, too.

(If there is a way to stop the screen darkening as it loads the mission terminal refreshes that could really help my eyes as a fallback back!)

Overall, this seems like a decent QoL improvement that may be simple to implement (and doesn't seem to have any downsides).
