Open Space Event Idea

Proposal
Two sides Rebel and Imperials or an event where it will not mattter. Single fighter and Gunships can participate.
Justification
Promote space exploration.
Give Gunship pilots a chance to show off their gunships.
Give pilots and shipwrights another avenue to obtain components. RE part or otherwise.
Motivation
Letting people know like a week in advance would give more people a chance to plan on participating rather than announcing it on a server wide message to only those that are playing at that specific moment.
I also think a lot of people have not tried space. Maybe they don't like it (which is OK) or maybe they feel intimidated by space?
First off - for full disclosure. I have not participated in many Events due to the limited amount of time I can play. Which turns out to be mostly weekends, maybe an hour or two during the week.

But I have not seen any "Space Events". My apologies if I have just not seen them.

This could include faction based events on various different planets where players bring their own ships, including gunships so lower ranking people can participate.

You can also have Space Events going to Ord Mantell to fight NPCs or create a capital ship Event where Rebs need to defend and Imps are on the offensive ... or vice a versa.

At the end of the Event, pilots can go to an NPC to complete the event and receive a component. Let them choose what they need and they get a component with random stats.

I am not sure how you would get people to sign up or just make it a free for all? There could be an NPC when people go to sign up and they choose the role they will play. If enough people have signed up for a specific role (single fighter or a gunship for example), then they would need to find a different role. I think an NPC to sign up would help keep it a fairer fight. The same NPC could be the NPC you see after the event is finished.

Can it be automated so that everyone knows this event will reoccur weekly, biweekly, once a month? If it could be automated (NPCs will activate accepting sign ups) ... could we have different types of space battles (IE: PVE and PVP like suggestion above).
Rewards could be tokens to purchase more powerful components or components themselves .... or both.

I get player driven content, but that requires someone on the server trying to get something going with people who are currently on the server. Plus this most likely means staff needs to kick it off. Something automated would be on schedule much like the current space battles that are in the gave right now. Ugh .... now since i said that there isn't too many people that participate in the space battles we have right now.

Maybe events that are scheduled that give higher end rewards will draw more people?

Just some thoughts .....

We have our first player-created event on Sunday night, but that's simply an introduction to Space PvP, I believe.

Friday Night, we have another Space event that will be a first regarding player-created events. And there are a few more ideas with more GCW-based blockade systems that I'd like to put together for a later date. But these would be more space PvP based or utilizing the spawns that are there already.

I think that there's a lot that can be done with your idea just within the player community.

We try and do PvP events but the participation is normally low. Tend to be weekends around 10pm BST

The participation for RP Nights was really low the first 7-8 months that I did it. It really takes persisitence.

yup and it also does not help that people have a lot of misconceptions about space PvP and refuse to listen or learn. I've always been willing to help teach people the basics etc

If any of the RP community want some advice and training before you launch your events im more than willing to spend time with them going over the basics of PvP and loadouts.
