This is a poll for whether or not to wipe/fresh start the server to gauge interest for the Development Team. It is non-binding and simply to get opinions about the idea in one place. However, NOTE:

You should base your vote on whether or not you think a fresh start server would be healthy for the server/population or fun, if we determine there is interest in that, THEN, we would figure out the logistics of what would happen to things like Jedi, Collections, Rewards, Houses, etc. But first, we want to gauge interest (or disinterest) in a wipe in general. This is NOT guaranteed no matter how popular it is and all decisions are reserved for the Development Team.

While yes I can see having fun with a restart, I don't want a launch rush where in my limited time I'm competing against swarms of players for mobs in an already buggy/clunky game. And personally, I'm in the middle of the 'gamer bell curve'.

I'm not Fresh and feel behind, I'm not too far ahead and incredibly bored because I've done everything. I'm in the middle and enjoying having finally 'got it' to a point, but also invested in progressing.

As for the server as a whole, I 100% it will be bad for the servers population to do this especially so soon to releasing AoA content and Jedi.

Yeah if all the progress I have made so far was suddenly gone, I'd be gone. And I am also not even close to max or at the end of the grind at all.

What would this even accomplish?

Even without gear, you can fully grind to full in a day on this server.

Wouldn't an "Item Wipe" be a better cup of tea? Or is Jedi the problem which will take 7-8 weeks max to get with luck.

I think a server wipe would be disastrous, this would definetly put me off from coming back, in general this whole notion of wiping this server is just not very good, people would be loosing thousands of hours of gameplay (in my case, around 400) just to delight one or two players who are used to the new system of "wipes" from other games. I think if the server were wiped it would be the final death blow for this server

As someone who can't really play in big waves where all the action is and big events as a modeler its hard to really justify sticking around anymore if the server wipes, it will mean it will happen again and it just isn't worth playing.

I guess my mind works differently, but I don't see any fun in this. People will just role up as a TKM until they max level and then probably quit until crafter's eventually become a thing and make armor. It will at most be a month of a pitiful experience, and nobody will really PvP until they are ready to, unless you really want to be wiped down by AOEs.

I get that a number of players have played a long time, but there are still players playing catch up.

In a game like Dark and Darker, such experiences can work because even in that game your quests (and experiences) stick with you as new base gear.

This "Fresh Experience" that people keep talking about already happened here when the server launched.

There is a clear difference between launching a server and wiping an existing one.

If you want a "Fresh Experience" you can achieve that by:
Making a new character on Restoration
Making a new character on some other server

Even on a launch, or a wipe, a "Fresh Experience" doesn't last.
This isn't a game that's built on 'splits' like League of Legends or based on wipes like Tarkov.

All this topic is doing is further removing confidence from people looking to donate.. who in their right mind is gonna donate now with all the talk on Discord about wipes and even more so now that there is the thoughts inside the devs regarding this matter ?

New World relased 3 years ago - no wipes, even to 'Revive Itelf".
SWTOR released 13 years ago - no wipes, even to 'Revive Itelf". They even merged servers and didnt wipe during that process.

It's a terrible idea and a terrible strategy. Maybe a new SWG server might launch that is based that way (there's a free idea on a SWG server for anyone reading here) but Restoration isn't it.
And btw that server would likely fail cus the whole point of this game is to build out your own sandbox over a long time and make achievements, such as badges/collections/establishing a city etc. and then things like PAAS only help to bolster that behaviour.

I agree with your first sentence, but then, making a new character when everybody got 3 years experience is not similar to a server wipe when everybody starts from 0 with stones and wood sticks. It's not the same fresh experience.

Nevetherless regarding the actual poll, we can see people wants the server to remain like this, so now we need to recruit more people and that they also donate.

keep going Resto
