Proposal
I suggest that, as a further reward for achieving Ace of Aces, players are able to use any star ship from their chosen Ace path (Rebel, Neutral or Imperial) as is normal. They may also, however, use any star ship not directly in opposition to their Ace Path.
i.e. An Imperial Pilot may use any Imperial or Neutral Star Ship, thus gaining the Imperial Space commands while piloting an Imperial or Neutral star ship.
A Rebel Pilot may use any Rebel or Neutral Star Ship
A Neutral Pilot may use ANY star ship (Imperial, Rebel or Neutral)
Justification
I feel this change would give a simple, yet beneficial, reward to the players who have chosen to become an Ace of Aces.
Motivation
Giving a reward to the players who have achieved Ace of Aces.
I believe the rewards gained for achieving Ace of Aces are too few or non-existent.

I like the idea, I would personally prefer to see the unlock of being able to fly a factions ship in the factional AoA.

The main problem with the current idea I see is that everyone will just end neutral as it has access to all ships. To address this, I think its fine if a rebel can fly imperial ships and vice versa, BUT if they are flying the opposing faction's ship they cannot go overt in space.

But I think that's the point. If you don't belong to a faction, you cannot be rewarded with Space Tokens, nor can you receive GCW points. So basically, this would open up the option for the Factional pilots to use Neutral ships as well as their faction. If you don't want/need the tokens or GCW, then why wouldn't you be neutral anyway, unless you really like/want the space commands from either of the factions. I have an Imperial Ace pilot only because I wanted the Red Guard Interceptor. I would much prefer to be a Neutral Ace instead. Just my thoughts on it. Thank you for your response and bringing up this point though.

This sounds like it's assuming neutrals want anything to do with Imp/Rebel ships. Going to reserve my vote for now, but what proposal would you suggest for neutrals other than flying ships they don't want to fly?

Well, that's a different matter IMO. Imperial pilots get Bomber Run and the Nebula Blast, both of which I feel are significantly inferior to the Rebel Space Commands. I also believe that the Neutral Space Command of summoning a group of low tier ranking pirates to be utterly useless at higher tier levels. Summoning a group of tier 3 pirates would do virtually nothing against anything obove tier 4s so it's a useless ability.
However, that is a separate matter. Simply giving AoA pilots the ability to have a wider variety of available ships to choose from is the main purpose of this Player Voice. I respect you withholding of your vote until the PV is of a more valuable change. I welcome any and all discussion on this matter and hope a useful and valuable change can be suggested and implemented.

Why are you talking about abilities? I'm talking about ships only. You seem to be coming from the perspective of a factioned player instead of a neutral/underworld viewpoint with that proposal for neutrals.

So, I'll ask again: What proposal would you suggest for neutrals since neutrals typically have no interest in Imp/Reb SHIPS?

Personally, I think simply rewarding access to ships that are already ingame and you can already fly if you play that faction is cheap and lazy design. It pretends to be a reward for a difficult achievement when it's not.

Instead, the rewards SHOULD be access to NEW ships that are faction-based that you have to be Factional AoA to fly, and NEW ships that are more fun for True AoA.

I mention Space Abilities since they are one of the reasons why people choose which faction they are going to end with when they finish AoA. Besides what ships they can use and any sort of RP reasoning, the space abilities are an important reason for why any given player chooses a particular faction.

I believe I answered your comment efficiently.

I'd love another LUC patch and advanced versions of Underused Ships for AoA.

I made several new squadron colors/designs for Imperials and Rebels, they just need to be looked at by devs.

Neutrals I am not sure, because I don't trust neutrals.. so full of neutrality.

Well, it IS assuming people want to fly all of the ships, that's kind of the entire thing. It's clearly for someone who does A LOT of space, has Ace of Aces, and multiple gunships of multiple factions. It's sad to see those gunships sit on the shelf and be unusable when they could/should be accessible by someone who has mastered each one. I like Shintu's add to this, as I would think you could fly any of them, as clearly you've done "your flight hours" in each ship to have it mastered it as pilot. I'm not even sure it would be THAT big a deal of ships of the same design fighting each other. Lots of examples of this in actual Star Wars (rebels using stolen Tie fighters, Lambda shuttles, etc).

You apparently don't realize this? But I do a LOT of space. Was in JtL beta, got my entire guild through their master pilot missions, Ord Mantell, space battles, you name it. And also since I've been here, when I can play, I'm in space a LOT.

I'm also a neutral pilot with absolutely NO desire to fly other factions' ships. So, if I grind my way through AoA only to be rewarded with ships I have no interest in, I'll feel even more shafted than when devs go the lazy way out to reward something that's already there and available should you choose to fly that faction.

The issue you raise, too, has nothing to do with being able to fly every ship. It has to do with little to no utility in using those ships as well as numbers on this server willing to be in space.

Nearly ANYTHING is a better reward for AoA, factional or otherwise, than this proposal. See the many PVs on this subject we have already discussed through the years.

I'm not suggesting it be the ONLY reward, but simply one the devs could easily implement that would be of interest to SOME pilots.

You are correct, I don't monitor your playtime, as I don't know you. If all player voice criticism amounts to is, "the devs need to do MORE then JUST this", then every PV out here is pointless. While I'm sure everyone would want MORE rewards and a TON of other things for Ace of Aces (which I'm sure they are working on), this seems to be a post about one specific thing (just not locking gunboats or fun ships like the Red Intercept or Xwing behind faction once you gain ACE of Aces). Not the end all be all of what you get for AoA.

Why not AoA be separated.

AoA to everything = Factional/Neutral Ship usage, but can't use advanced ships cross-factionally.
AoA to one faction = New or Advanced vers of ships?

There are known rebels who took over Imperial ships and use em; for example.

Nym's Faction uses a lot of rebel ships, so yeah. Just things to consider.

You're right. That would be ludicrous if all a player voice amounts to is that. Thus why I referenced all the many PVs on this topic already instead of trying to rehash it all in a post. A lot of very good reasons have already been given why this isn't a good idea.

Nym's Faction is rebel-aligned, so it makes sense that he's done many things for the Rebels and (here's the point) STILL DOES for use of those ships.

While having access to other ships would be nice, I would be happy with the "Ace of Aces" title.

I think I heard that there is something in the works for AoA cantinas???? That would be nice if there were special missions / quests from there that would allow us to get exotic ships and parts. Something substantial to promote space and give us spacers some love.
