Umm downvote. Nice touch saying the devs - changes you made were not from a game development perspective.
 
the mini game is punishing and with people not tipping like they use to, and actual ents who are there at the keyboard and are trying to multitask by doing a mission and buffing people, if you miss 1 flourish you fail the mission thats too punishing, i get the reason for the change, but again its too punishing.
 
The profession requirements are a no-brainer. I've heard some reasonable arguments against the changes for eliminating mission terminal usage indoors, but I imagine it was good change for the economy too.

Is it possible to setup an audio queue for the flourish request message?

My short-term suggestion would be to remove outright mission failure for missing/wrong flourishes and scale the reward down to like 3000 - 5000 credits per mission if no bonus flourishes are performed.
That way the economy still eases up a bit from the AFK abuse but it doesn't feel like an absolute waste of time if you get distracted for a few minutes with other tasks.

It feels a little heavy handed to get nothing. Even if entertainers got next-to-nothing for missing their bonuses, I think it would alleviate that off-putting feeling that comes from mission failure.

If stopping AFK(ish) entertainment mission terminal grinding without removing them entirely is the ultimate goal, then another direction to move in would be to make the mini-game something to purely focus on-- much easier said than done I'm sure.

The mini-game isn't really engaging in its current state.

Some somewhat obvious suggestions would be a higher volume of interaction requests (like flourishing) along with changing dance/song suggestions, props/instrument requirements, and SFX. There is the potential to balance the interactions so Master Musicians/Dancers are more apt to get full bonus rates because they have all of the interactions unlocked to them whereas Novice Musicians/Dancers will only get some bonus rates because they don't have all of the abilities unlocked to fully fulfill the interaction requests.

A big pie-in-the-sky super pipedream would perhaps be a "private backroom" instanced puzzle-room mission similar to Helping Ridth. If you could hand out item drops (crafting mats/wearables/collections?) instead of credits, you would extend entertainers utilization into other parts of the sandbox. Not sure if this breaks the spirit of the profession though.

An entertainer mission where an npc with a unique name approaches and watches/listens

Their name is a hint as to what inspiration to give:

A clumsy brawler - needs melee accuracy.
A greenhorn - needs flush with success
A resource tycoon - needs harvest faire

And many others.

Once enough time passes, the npc becomes ready for buff. Apply the correct buff package according to their name, and you complete the mission. Give them the wrong buff, and you fail. Perhaps your credit reward is reduced or not given.

You can have rare npcs that have trickier clues and give higher payouts.

All the names and requirements are random to prohibit afk players being able to complete the missions.

There are no system messages being added to an already busy chat tab.

It does not interfere with custom performances and real player interactions.

It accomplishes the intent of the chsnge while providing something more interesting to the player and also keeping the ui clean.
 
i feel like this would be too annoying to code, plus the cantinas would be swamped with npcs. The flourish mini game needs to be re evaluated and changed, i'm honestly disappointed that the social senator is not in this thread with some thoughts so we can work toward a change. lower the payouts, lower the fail threshold, or lower the amount of flourishes or some combo thereof. the current change is not the answer for those that actually play an entertainer. People dont really tip like they use to since a senator stated that we dont deserve tips even for ATK ents. It really feels like only certain proffs get positive changes while the rest get the fecal matter hose in the face.

I am sorry for what ever it is you're going through in real life that would cause you to extrapolate an insult out of me saying I am disappointed that you have yet to chime in publicly on a topic. An insult would have been worded much stronger than that. The only thing you have said in the social senate channel is thanks for your feedback, kinda placating to be honest. Its weird to me that the level of elite pearl clutching hubris by "leadership" on this server is so high. Also this isn't even my post so don't punish the OP because you think I insulted you.

What constructive ideas/suggestions do YOU have to improve things? I've seen nothing but complaints.

The droid functionality/repair mini game they added is great. Its a popup with multiple choices and a hint system.

Id love to see ent missions move away from flourishes; as performances and flourish requests dont play well together. A buff package popup that changed based on the type of patron watching/listening to you, would allow ents to continue with their performance unhindered while also weeding out afk credit farming.

that statement was actually toward Grewik just to be clear, Because he went on a whole long rant about not tipping entertainers during the last election cycle, you guys need to really calm down.

I appreciate you don't like my stance on tipping ents and I understand that but PVs are not really the place to vent this kinda frustration toward any party.

Just stay on topic and be objective on the post please and feel free to flame me on discord as much as you like :)

Don't have much else to add to the PV but if you guys have some positive ideas for the current system feel free to make a new one that's less cluttered and I'm sure it will be given a fair and objective viewing 💛

Think you've got a neat idea here. It feels true to the spirit of entertaining.

Would get rid of the "perform for 10 minutes" timer entirely, just have the NPC show up at random intervals between 8-12 minutes.
I'd suggest they wait an equal amount of time and if you haven't buffed them by then, the mission fails.
If you give them wrong buff, 50% mission reward credit.

I'd kick this around in the social senate discord or ask Celsi to run it by a dev to say whether something like this would be feasible.
 
I liked the change of the novice ent to be able to do a mission. The flourishes and trying to see them while chatting or buffing is asinine and broken. Attacking people in a PV not a good look. Glad you cleaned it up. This mission terminal and making ents compete for buffs and not giving credit to those in group really hurts leveling ents.

I hope that that can one day be changed.

well if you would have read my original post i never mentioned you, until Rinna asked. tbh its not my fault that people are taking this personally. All of the factors play into the larger picture of why so many people were just doing missions and doing them afk.
 
People are always going to have differences of opinion and somewhere there's a middle ground. My opinion is that this wasn't it. I have now heard the opinions of many people and have been told and have read that ents are just there to be social. Its not work to just stand there and apparently anyone not actively buffing someone and is waiting for people to come in shouldn't be just standing there making money. If your looking to make money go elsewhere has been another thing that's been said to death.
I was never an entertainer in live I've been 1 for about 4 weeks maybe 5? For something I never did in live I've had fun with it I enjoy helping people talking to the different people on the server seeing the different builds and what's going on the resto world. I play on 2 monitors left and right my so my screens never down. While waiting in between customers or talking with others ill be checking harvesters my vendor picking something up just my errands whatever needs done. I'm new I don't expect every customer to come in and go to me there have people that have been here a long time in the cantina we all know who they are. However the fact is and cant be overlooked is that when they are on and they are active they can get the lion share of people coming in at times. Im not complaining it is what it is you don't get mad at Microsoft for being one of the go to brands for computers type thing lol but for others and ive talked to a number of ents and it can be frustrating to watch get walked by so many times.
I've gotten frustrated a few times and I've could have handled it better then I have. I relied on the missions to fill in the gaps during these times to continue earning a nickel I've never expect to get rich but there's a difference earing pocket change and flat zero. With the new ENT collection it flooded the cantinas with ents the issue only got worse. So during these times it was nice having the missions to be able to pull a little side income in I think I avg'ed 36k on hours I was on top of it while I waited for the over flow rushes or when they left. So being in there is still a time investment and when I brought this up I was told that it would be better to run both my toons on spins together and id make alot more money which is true higher risk higher reward. In that regards people don't have 4 hands to run both at once so your switching back n forth same thing many ents do.
I understand some literally go in and park the toon in the cantina and never buff people so my idea was to find a better balance to this and I think maybe in the combination with disabling the terminal being used inside which I didn't know was a thing the other part is to shorten the afk timer on ents or everyone from 10 to 8 minutes (depending on how complicated the coding would be)and then make the mission fail able if you go afk in that time or lower the payout to 5k if you do fall afk. This doesn't hard punish those of us that are active and still want to ent run missions, those of us that use flourishes as part of our routine as Ents. and those of us that also blacked out system messages so our flourishes don't bury the text we want to see.
