Proposal
Either an implementation with the future Jedi class that is based off supporting other players experiences, or at least a "promise" to the community that doing such things, will not hinder their "chase" for Jedi and maybe even make it easier.
Justification
Hopefully it would lead to those players who normally go out of their way to be nice and friendly to keep doing so, and not cause them any "issues" with missing out on their hard work. Or feeling like they helped others but ended up with nothing themselves.

I think a decent level of selflessness** is good for everyone, but it's understandable if you spend hours helping other players you might want something special for yourself. But it's a real shame if to get that something special you have to stop being nice. (Not saying everyone with Jedi in mind is acting this way, just something I noticed with a few quick friends I met** as I was leveling that, turned a bit sour once I got to lvl 80.)
Motivation
I'm a brand new player to SWG, and I think I found this server at a near perfect time, where there are enough people that I have talked to tons of people and made quick friends. But to see those quick friendships get dashed in the hopes of gaining a reward is a bit sad.
I've noticed that as we get close to what people tell me is going to be the Unlock of Jedi. Some players who normally often offer to help low levels or new players learn and run content. Will go off an only solo for things they think might help unlock Jedi. While understandable, it's a bit off putting and disheartening, to see a class that "mostly" represents the idea of the strong standing up for the weak and teaching and sharing their info, can cause players who normally go out of there way to share. Become "loot goblin" around trinkets. (Mind you I'm super new and this turn around on people is about two weeks, a few people that offered to help me level countless times, guild invites, and sat and talked with me for 30m+ into 2h+. Will now** tell me, they need 100% of X loot or I cant come, cause they are stressed over not getting "first Jedi")

Maybe this is just cause I never played live, and R3 is my only exposer to SWG, but the idea of Jedi *not only being unlockable this way* but being something, someone could unlock through helping others and having positive interactions helping grow the community sounds amazing, and could lead to a Jedi that's so loved by the community people choose to not attack them or hunt them, or even try to help them if they get attacked.

I'm really out of the loop on most things and kinda just play to have fun and experience the game so far. So maybe my line of thinking is a bit off. But it seems a bit sad that the "Jedi" could be a person to rally groups and support them, but the chase for it would cause such a change in people. Have the idea "known" by the players that going out of your way to share and help others "wont harm you" in your progress could be a benefit. The one thing I can think back to is a story I heard about Live Jedi, needing a full group of friends to help them beat one of the last Jedi bosses, and these people had to be people the Jedi could trust and inv to a group and work with, which could be cool as a Jedi who supported the community would then be held in a different light by all those helped "hopefully".

I get this could be insanely hard to implement or maybe not possible, I have no clue the limitations on SWG. Maybe I'm to emotional about a game, just my take on it.

TLDR ; I don't think anyone's journey for Jedi should be harmed by them helping others especially new players, and maybe at least for LS, benefit the Jedi from helping others.

Jedi will prob not help too much as if they are seen doing jedi things they get hunted an if they die they lose xp, most will prob just do jedi spin groups to blow thru it and disapper. Would be nice to see a apprentice program implemented

I see, I didn't know they couldn't do anything. I saw videos in the past of Jedi working with small groups of players, all their friends or guildies.

I guess that's kinda the point of my comment/idea, as someone who has no clue what it must have been like during Live. It would be a really nice chance for people to have a more positive take on the class as a whole and how it effects the community, but maybe that's too much wishful thinking.

well i mean they can just not sure they will until strong. Jedi once unlocked has to grind skills like other professions and can be very weak for awhile. with that 3 BH's can get your bounty and jump you together so can get nasty

I guess to get your take on it as someone who sounds like they have much more experience on the matter, do you think there could be a good way to give Jedi/Jedi learners XP and rewards for going out of their way to help others.

Cause even if Jedi need to be hard and deadly life (which I understand and even think is cool on some points), could there be a way for people "unlocking" Jedi to not be held back or even benefits from being social and helping others? Cause that's more what my "issue" was, is that people in-game are acting different, in a less social/less friendly manner (cause of want to stock up on things that could help unlock Jedi one day).

Hey friendo, I feel like we should continue our discussion in game. I'll make sure to reach out when the servers return.

I understand that your are new but first of all there are not only good Jedi, there are also bad ones so that doesn't mean someone has to help a person or has any obligation to help someone become Jedi at their own expense. Secondly I know a person who has been grinding mobs looking for holocrons for Jedi for 6+ hours every night for the past half week or more and the idea that just because they are known for helping people out doesn't mean that they have an obligation. I'm all for having a co-op way to become a light-sided Jedi but it seems to me like you are only thinking of one side of a coin and only about yourself.

So... this thread has been gnawing at me all night mostly because I think it's because about me. I'm Alastrom in game. If you've met me so far, it's probably through the spin groups I run just about every night. I do my best to help everyone because as far as I'm concerned, it's good for the server and I'd very much like to see the server grow. It's why I so frequently put my own goals and aspirations aside to assist in questing or spin groups and even JTL Corvette runs.

My own personal goal as of late has revolved around farming Holocrons for the two collection rewards that exist in game. I'm certain I'm not the only one doing this and I'm very certain that we're doing it with the same theory in mind. As anyone who is on this grind will tell you, it's not for the faint of heart. While I can't speak to everyone's experience, for me it's involved hours upon hours of grinding with absolutely no payout sometimes. I got my first holocron by sheer chance and I didn't see another one for three days. That's three days of four... five... sometimes even more hours of killing Dark Jedi, Nightsisters and sparsely grouped Force Sensitives with the hope that a single piece that I don't already have will drop. I've gone through a whole set of armor and several weapons by this point, not to mention several crates of food and droid batteries. I'm not telling you any of this to gripe or suggest that my effort is somehow greater then you're own. I only mean to suggest that I'm very dedicated to the path that I've set for myself.

When I received a message from you in game in regards to looking for group content, I invited you to join me on my hunt with the only caveat being that I lay claim to the Holocrons. You were offered 100% of the loot otherwise, which has already yielded a veritable fortune for me. I thought it was fair and while I was still taking a great risk making that offer, I did so without hesitation for the above stated reasons. This offer was unacceptable to you and I appreciated that for what it was.

The fact is, everyone is entitled to enjoy their gaming experience the way they want to. You are always more then welcome to join me and my team on anything we're involved in and while some would make a broad claim to looting rights (Acklay, DeathWatch Bunker, etc) no such imposition has ever been made when I'm involved save for this solo operation that you asked to come along in. I'm not chastising you, despite what it may seem like. I'm trying to point out that the goals and aspirations set by individuals on the server will often not align with your own. I think to suggest sweeping changes to mechanics we don't fully understand as a response to a complaint with a single individual is... short sighted at best and likely seen as selfish by others.

I'd very much like an opportunity to reconcile with you in game because I've enjoyed your company thus far and would welcome the opportunity to continue that relationship in the future. If last nights interaction has sullied the good will I've built with you thus far then you have my sincere apologies but I also make them with the understanding that you can't please all the people, all the time. Now, perhaps I've miscalculated this entire interaction and this is a concern that's been drawing on you for reasons unrelated to me. But I suspect your original post masks your original complaint and in fairness to the community at large, we should be given an opportunity to settle that outside of the public face.

I agree completely with Zurhian, just because someone has helped you level or been helpful to you in the past does not make them obligated to you in any way.

Also if that same person is working on ANYTHING and you openly ask to join in a group with them, what makes you think that they are being a "LOOT GOBLIN" if they wont share the item / items they are SPECIFICALLY grinding for when you asked / volunteered to join them?

Finally I would like to say that as someone who played SWG during beta / release and remembers when the first Jedi was unlocked. The grind and potential resource commitment was HUGE. I played on the Intrepid server and Holocrons were going for 25 Million per easy. I think you need to take a step back try and look at it through someone else's perspective, they are also trying to enjoy this game and have a specific goal in mind. Instead of being being upset that this person who has been helping you is working on their goal, why not return the favor they showed you in the past as well as continue to learn the game as you said multiple time you are new to and are still learning.

I feel like in my post, I outlined that stuff too... Like that this wasn't an across the board idea, and that I know "Sith/Dark Jedi"(I'm a big legends fan, so I even like the idea that most people don't know what Sith are and everyone thinks Force users are Jedi) but I know both things are a thing. But my point more was, that someone who normally goes out of there way to help others "CHANGES" their actions of what they normally would do cause of the fear of missing out on a class chance or goal seems like a missed chance at rewarding players who are helping the community.

I know we like to have Dark Side vs Light Side, and dark side aesthetics can be cool AF. But from a player stand-point/community stand point IMO, I think it would be a real benefit for people who already are "nice/co-op" styled players instead of them feeling like they "have" to change their style of gameplay to gain Jedi.

Though I'll concede 100% to you and Camuai, I'm insanely new and there is a good chance my idea/concept of Jedi and SWG isn't what most others want from it.

I WANT TO REPEAT, I never said in my initial comment people HAVE to keep helping me or others, or that ALL JEDI need to do this. More so that people who I saw going out of their way to help other people, and talk with new players, were then acting almost 180% flipped when it would come to Jedi as it then felt like they had "competition".

Yes that was me in game, but before you start saying such things about me. You might want to consider that your comment here is more or less "calling me out" on a public forum not connected to my character and in that own way is selfish. Instead of just reaching out to me in-game or through DM on this site which you can do. No you aren't the only cool high level that I played with while leveling or ask questions to, that when I brought up Jedi to them or commented about them grinding on Jedi. They told me something similar to you about them "needing" all of an item. The item isn't even that big a deal it's just the interaction is so sour, like I said in my first post maybe I read too deep and too fast into online friendships with people I just met in a game online. It happens.

No my comments weren't directed at you specifically, but I was really upset about our interactions. You leave out that part that you called me a "heartless bitch" after I joked about finding some holocrons and getting lucky cause I'm legit a BRAND new player and have 0 clue how to even get them. You're comment about the NS and Dark Jedi was the first I even found out about framing them, and still don't want to go farm them just for that alone. You even then ignored my last comment about you hopefully not being stressed out over it and wishing you good luck on ur grind knowing you're really good and will prolly get Jedi if not first at some point.

When I hit you up in game, it was for multiple reasons, king among them I played with you multiple times across that week and even had a very nice convo with you about joining your new guild that same day.

You say your offer was super great, and that me wanting a few of the same item was me asking too much? That seems really odd unless you're talking about us like we aren't equalizes. I even replied back to you, that you could keep 3 for ever 1 I got. Cause I wanted them to Decorate my room anyway cause "We don't know they will be apart of Jedi" I'm collecting them for RP reasons. (This comment to you alone should have shown you how new I am, I don't even understand the concept of the drop tables to know if I will ever get 1, but was happy to wait however long that took cause it meant more time playing with someone I enjoyed playing with)

Feel free to reach out in game Ala, but you've already said more then enough here to make your ideas clear on it. I wanted to play with you cause you were cool, I thought your character was geared af and wanted to learn from you. After hearing you talk about the grind, I even just wanted you to not have to tell me that you're stressed af after multiple days of grinding that you're choosing to do, so much so that its runing your time in other things, to the point where you insult me in convo. Maybe I took this interaction too personal as well as a few others. Maybe this is me learning SWG/Jedi in SWG isn't fun for me and isn't something I'll be interested in anymore.

Honestly, I get the feeling this idea is trash, or at least horrible to the community that have replied so far. So just feel free to scrap it or I'll figure out how to close it I guess.

Was just an idea guys so that people weren't so stressed or willing to at least work together and share stuff.

Its not trash its just complex. However there is many non-jedi that can help level with players. Don't apologize for having a thought or throwing it out there. Thanks for taking the time to throw it out there.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. As we don't have a particularized idea to evaluate, we're going to go ahead and close this thread. I've included some information on the Jedi Unlock below. Please feel free to post any additional suggestions or ideas you have in new threads.

About Jedi Unlock
The journey to becoming a Jedi in the era of the Galactic Empire poses unique challenges as a thriving Force Sensitive community to take in a youngling for training is nonexistent. Consequently, the process of becoming a Jedi will be a demanding, stimulating, and individualized experience for every inhabitant of the Star Wars Galaxy. Discovery of The Force will require exploration throughout the ground and space on group and solo adventures. Everything encountered along the way, from artifacts and horticulture to creatures and conclaves, will play a role in your saga.
