Wiki Article Bounty Program

One of our quieter initiatives spanning the past few years has been making improvements to our Wiki in order to improve the way new and veteran players alike can find and interact with information about the game. Whether it's trying to track down how to proceed with the Legacy quest or trying to find specific stats on a new item only obtainable in Nightmare-difficulty Heroics, we want to give players access to enough information to make informed decisions about the directions of their characters and continue along a logical character progression towards the items they want to use, farm, and show off.

Our Wiki has been maintained by fellow players for a long time. Lately, we've been adding content to the game faster than we've been able to motivate players to write about it. This has led to a substantial gap in what information is available about Star Wars Galaxies Restoration online versus what just exists in peoples' heads as institutional knowledge. This creates a frustrating experience for players who are seeking answers to specific questions and don't have the means of discovering the answers for themselves and have to ask in Discord.

With that said, we're introducing a new system for rewarding players who make meaningful contributions to our Wiki (as well as providing the players who have been doing this all along with some retroactive compensation).

We don't want this new system to cause an influx of new articles or updates to existing articles that may be inaccurate, improperly formatted, or unhelpful, just for the sake of being given a reward, so there are some criteria that must be followed for your contributions to be eligible for rewards.

FORMAT

The format of this program will be a monthly reward of Galactic Fortitude Tokens for people who make meaningful edits to the Wiki in that month. Tokens will be awarded at the discretion of the staff based on the quality of the articles or edits. Depending on the length and quality of the content, a qualifying edit to an existing article could receive the same amount of tokens as a brand new high-quality article. For example, a complete overhaul of the Heroic Instances page would be considered the same as creating the page from scratch.

The total quantity of the rewards will scale with the total participation in the program: The more people making high quality contributions, the larger the pool of Galactic Fortitude Tokens for that month. We hope that this serves to encourage interest in maintaining our Wiki as a knowledge base for all users.

Consistent contributors will also receive an exclusive badge and "Renowned Archivist" title as a token of our appreciation for their dedication to improving player experience.

Criteria

The following criteria must be met for a new article to be considered high quality and sufficient for reward:
  1. If the article is about an item, NPC, or other content that can be seen by players in-game, there is at least one image in the article. For example, an image of the Dented IG-88 Head should be present in an article about the Dented IG-88 Head. Screenshots of item descriptions as they appear in your Inventory or Examine window should use the Protean UI style.
    • Screenshots should not be taken from a phone.
    • Screenshots of the Examine window should feature the full window, including the item and its description.
    • If the screenshot is of an NPC, the screenshot should be a full frame of their surroundings rather than the Examine window.
  2. The article meets all of the following best practices:
    • The first mention of "Star Wars Galaxies" is fully spelled out in the article and then subsequently abbreviated SWG.
    • Content that is unique to Star Wars Galaxies Restoration is called out as such in the first few sentences of the article.
    • The first mention of other content within the article that has its own separate page is hyperlinked (for example, on the Heroics main page, the first instance of the Tusken King Army (TK) instance should contain a link to the Tusken King Army's wiki page).
  3. The article is adequately formatted for readability and delivery of information, making logical use of headings, paragraph text, images, tables, and other formatting options.
  4. The article mentions how the content is accessible within the game (if applicable).

The following criteria must be met for an edit of an existing article to be considered high quality and sufficient for reward:
  1. If the article is about an item, NPC, or other content that can be seen by players in-game, at least one image was added to the article if an image was not already present. For example, an image of the Dented IG-88 Head should be present in an article about the Dented IG-88 Head. Screenshots of item descriptions as they appear in your inventory or Examine window should use the Protean UI style.

  4. The article now mentions how the content is accessible within the game (if applicable).

BOUNTIES

From time to time, we may post a bounty on a specific article or articles about a certain aspect of the game. The player to claim the bounty would receive the listed rewards immediately rather than at the end of the month. These bounties will be posted to Discord along with their corresponding reward and are designed to provide some specific guidance on hot topics that we believe players are looking for disproportionally more often compared to other content.
