Proposal
1) Rename "City Maintenance Paid" mail to "City Treasury Report"
2) Include a breakdown of the weekly tax income generated by the city. This should include how much each individual taxable entity makes, such as property tax, sales tax and garage income, with a total tax income generated amount.
3) Be able to view the weekly total income on the city maintenance terminal in the treasury report.
Justification
This is a QoL change for Mayors, allowing them to view the revenue for tax income, making it easier to manage tax.
Motivation
Currently there is no way to view the breakdown of income from tax for the city without manually calculating this, by taking the treasury balance at the start of the week, and the treasury balance at the end of the week after maintenance has been taken out. Even then this might not be entirely accurate as time may have passed since this mail was generated.

I'm necro'ing and sponsoring this thread as I feel like it is still a very relevant PV.
 
This idea seems common sense and quite overdue.
As things sit now, the only type of tax that can be calculated or estimated is property tax, based upon the idea that x is hourly maintenance per lot, and y is the total number of lots occupied by player structures, then 168*x = weekly maintenance per lot, and 168*x*y equals total maintenance per week. Then we can divide that total by 100 to find out what each 1% of property tax generates.

All other forms of revenue require excessive amounts of SWAG calculations (for those unfamiliar with the acronym, the spoken term sounds much like "Scientific Wild Axe Guess") I can figure out that I'll double shuttle revenue by raising the city fee from 100 to 200 credits per ticket, but there's no way to calculate how many tickets are bought. Garage fees are completely impossible to budget for, with over a dozen common vehicle types and damage percentage impacting the cost of repairs, and thus the amount of revenue. Income tax too, is all but impossible to budget for, as it is based upon a percentage of cash on hand, which can oscillate wildly based upon vendor sales, junk buyer sales, terminal missions, questing times, and other facets.

Ideally, a city treasury report would show the same detail as the expenditures reports... how much each cycle was collected in each category of municipal revenue? I'd love to see it as a three column sheet such as this:

This type of line-item report would allow mayors to ensure that functional infrastructure, such as shuttles and garages, are revenue neutral (for example, 100 tickets a week at 150 credits each -->150k in revenue. It would also allow adjustment of decorations versus player taxes to keep out of pocket costs reasonable and decrease the need for panhandling.

A fourth column could be included to show counts, useful for knowing how many total lots (property tax) players (income tax) vendors (sales tax) or tickets (shuttle fees) generated the eligible funds or revenue numbers. That way, for example, I could forecast what increasing ticket prices by 50 credits, or raising property taxes by 3% would impact the coffers.
