Adjust Interceptor Ship Speed Modifier

Proposal
Change the Speed Modifier for the Naboo N-1, TIE Interceptor (including the CPG reward), and the A-Wing to 120%
Justification
As it stands, the Interceptor ships have no benefit over any other ship (therefore no reason to be chosen by players). They have limited mass, and limited armament. Making them the fastest ships in the game would give them SOME small benefit over other choices in the right circumstance, and would also line up with cannon.
Motivation
I personally love to fly these ships, but they are untenable for any real purpose in the game.
I want to give the N-1, TIE Interceptor, and A-Wing a purpose! ( but i was wrong )

Their purpose is PVP, and they are dominant in any 1v1 situation and extremely strong in groupfights still.

This suggestion would take them and make them absolutely godly. It's an absolutely broken suggestion that would make the pvp a horrible meta mess while making very little impact to higher tier pve.

Interceptors are capable all the way up to ace as i have used them to carry multiple people to theirs.

I am saying this as an A wing main pilot.
 
If your interceptor isn't already faster than other fighters, that's on your engine not the chassis.

For example: A-wing has a 100% speed modifier, X-wing has 90% (S-foils open), or 95% (S-foils closed)

Okay, My PVP experience is admittedly limited. My perspective was that it seems other ships fly just as well, and do not have the mass & weapon limitations. But perhaps I just need to learn more.

A stat you don't see on the resto wiki is throttle sweet spots, An interceptor turns at max turnrate at 80% throttle. others need to drop to something way below that which makes them the fastest in a rate fight not in a straight line.
 
Upon reflection, my desire mostly comes from playing X-Wing a few decades ago. The A-Wing was significantly faster in a straight line than the X-Wing, but didn't turn as well and had less firepower.. and this always felt right to me... The identical speed (given an identical engine) and less firepower than an x-wing in this game just feels weird to me. The increased turning ability definitely makes sense as an equalizer, I just don't like it from a Star Wars nerd perspective. I would prefer to see increased straight line speed and decreased or equal turning capability. But perhaps that's just me, and there is no purpose (or even actual harm) in the in-game mechanic.
 
Posting to downvote. Post was made in good faith in mind but it seems you are a bit inexperienced or ignorant to how they function in game. You can easily achieve 2k speed with boosters, I promise! And winning turn battles is imperative. You'll learn more soon.
 
Interceptors typically have both higher speeds and much better handling at those higher speeds. As TRAYUS mentioned, they like to be high on the throttle while turning. In PVE, where flight patterns are highly predictable, light and medium fighters/multi-gun ships are usually preferred because you can still chase down ships easily but you also have more firepower.
 
I really like the spirit, but this would break game balance in PvP. I have always wanted to find a way to make interceptors useful in PvE, but it can't come at the expense of PvP balance. I would say take it back to the drawing board and see if you can find creative ways to make them more useful for group content like convoys that is PvE specific.

Thanks. But it seems the only way would be to do a rather extensive rework of those ships, and that's not really a worthwhile project probably. (Increase speed, decrease maneuverability, change the handling characteristics, etc.) Just makes the inner nerd in me a little disappointed.
 
It's not just about speeds as well, A-Wings for example have significantly less hitbox sizes.

The Hitbox of an X-wing is 7.0 Radius.

Meanwhile, the A-Wing is 3.65(?) Radius.

I don't remember exact numbers, but it is almost 4x less the size, making it a lot harder to actually hit.

The Naboo N1 is 3.9(?)

Tie Interceptor is 5.0

In my opinion, Imperial Ships have always had the short end of Hitbox sizes; Aggy is deceptively small though for some reason (Idk why). I personally think the Tie Interceptor and Aggy should trade hitboxes, but what do I know.

Interceptors are smaller to hit which is what gives them an excellent edge in PvP. Adding speed to them would make them able to chase down just about anything or escape anyone. This would be vastly overpowered. I vote no.
