Proposal
Create a launcher or in-game utility where players can select a source character and a destination character, then copy saved interface settings from one to the other. Ideally, this would include HUD placement, toolbar layout, chat window layout, keybinds, joystick/controller settings, and other character-specific UI options.
Justification
Many players use multiple characters, and each one currently requires manual setup if UI settings are changed, reset, or lost. This becomes especially frustrating when configuring specialized controls such as joystick, HOTAS, or space combat settings. A small settings change can unintentionally reset or alter the HUD, forcing the player to rebuild the same layout across multiple characters.

In my case, I changed joystick settings while configuring a HOTAS setup, and it reset my HUD. Because I actively use four characters, I now have to manually recreate the same HUD and UI setup four separate times. A copy-profile feature would turn that from a repetitive chore into a simple account utility.
Motivation
This feature would improve QoL for nearly every player who uses alts, especially pilots, crafters, entertainers, traders, and players with different combat characters. It would also reduce frustration when troubleshooting controls or graphics settings, because players could safely restore or copy a known-good layout.

This is not a gameplay advantage; it is purely a convenience and accessibility improvement. It helps players spend less time rebuilding menus and more time actually playing the game.
Add a player utility to the launcher that allows a player to copy one character’s UI/HUD layout, keybinds, and client options to another character on the same account.

The Development Team has provided a final answer on this suggestion. Votes are no longer accepted.
Upvoted. In the meantime as an FYI, there is a way to do this and it's fairly easy. A post in the SWGR Discord in the #technical-help channel by Banth from Jan 6 2025 details how (key binds, UI and most options).

Not to say it wouldn't be nice to have an easy copy over, but there is the work around mentioned.

it's in the pins

I am looking into different possiblities of implementing such a feature. I am currently looking at different use-cases, which may be consolidated into one technical feature:
- Use-Case 1: Sharing a particular setting that is normally tied to one character with all characters of the account. Example: Positioning of UI elements such as ChatBox, Toolbar, etc. Possibly hotkeys
- Use Case 2: Syncing a particular setting of one character to the installation of the game on different computers. Example contents of a toolbar, macros, etc.

I would prefer an option of that, which is completly in-game, but I would love to hear more feedback about this potential feature.

Would definitely be wonderful.
Just created a new character and was sort of dismayed at setting up the UI again.
After I do it for a second time, a third will definitely stink!

Thank you for the work-around! You guys rock.

Everquest 2 had this function. I believe you would type /loadui(character name)
And it would load it to the character you were on. It was incredibly handy and definitely should be done here.

Upvoting because the current way of achieving this is relatively complicated.
Also the way its implemented might need individual approaches depending on what part gets synced because some settings will not work well when transferred to different characters

UI currently is annoying to sync because the files contain also the abilities placed on the toolbar. Syncing this means you essentially have to re-setup all toolbar icons on each character it gets synced too.
Syncing options can be annoying too since there is certain settings you might want to be different on certain characters. (Volume settings for entertainers, Show object names and all these things)

However you can have permanently synced keybinds if you use hard links for them. This works flawlessly if you want the keybinds to be the same on all characters.

mklink /H <src> <target>

e.g.
Name : keybinds.inp
LinkType : HardLink
Link: {D:\SWG Restoration\x64\profiles\jylin\Restoration\183628000001.inp, D:\SWG Restoration\x64\profiles\jylin\Restoration\183628000002.inp, D:\SWG Restoration\x64\profiles\jylin\Restoration\183628000003.inp}

Name : keybinds_space.inp
LinkType : HardLink
Link : {D:\SWG Restoration\x64\profiles\jylin\Restoration\183628000001_space.inp, D:\SWG Restoration\x64\profiles\jylin\Restoration\183628000002_space.inp, D:\SWG Restoration\x64\profiles\jylin\Restoration\183628000003_space.inp}

As mentioned before i would highly suggest against automatically plain syncing UI in its current form because it will mess up your toolbars.

Generally i think we need some sort of system where the user can select what parts to be synced with each character because its quite unique to each player.

I have some ideas in my head.. but this will most likely slated for a patch towards end of the year.

I Will gladly take having to redo ability slots if i can avoid everything else. I would add, loading the GUI settings/Layout from another character should be a choose. like > Load Toon Slot one > Load Toon Slot 2 ETC..
