Proposal
I think that the nalargon and ommni box should be adjusted so they are equipped like any other instrument. Currently you just drop the instrument and play it without equipping which leads to great difficulty in actually playing either one.
Justification
I know a lot of entertainers would enjoy being able to play these instruments and being able to apply inspiration buffs with them.
Motivation
Currently these instruments are very difficult to use and impossible to use for entertainer buffing. You have to keep the instrument targeted the entire performance and the cursor over the instrument as well. When you move your cursor to inspire a player it stops your music and you've ruined their buff and have to start over.
Musicians have a lot of choices in their instruments. There are two high level instruments that we are not able to play easily because of how they work. Most instruments you just equip and start playing music. The nalargon and ommni box work much differently. You have to drop the instrument on the floor then target it and then start your music. You also have to keep your cursor over the instrument or it stops your performance. This makes them impossible to use for inspiration buffing other players.

If these instruments were able to be equipped like any other ones then we could use them without having to keep them targeted and the cursor over them.

The main problem with these instruments comes from the general targetting problem we have on Resto, which also hurts other aspects of the game such as decorating, droid usage, DNA and enzyme extraction. Equipping these instruments would be a nice solution, it's actually a better way of using them, because on live we had to type /insp name to buff someone, when playing on nala or omni box. I'd be happy if we don't have to do that anymore.

If they were equippable, i would still like to see then be able to used as a stage piece like some entertainers currently do (myself included) with the nalargon's Use option

Having both the equip option (that unequips as soon as you try to walk?), while also keeping the drop option would be great. Or just remove the targeting requirement for play. However they implement it, it would be great to get these back in use.

They are usuable but a major pain atm. Still unusable for buffing. I know we'd all like them to be as easy to use as every other instrument.

Currently in order to use them:

Open inventory,
unequip your current instrument
right click and use the Narg
Click on the Nargl
With your mouse over the nargl /startMusic starwars1
Now that it's working... DON'T LET YOUR MOUSE LEAVE IT....
Don't change your target.

To buff while playing the instrument you have to use:
/inspire <charactername>
Then as soon as you click on the buffs to build, you have a good chance of ending the song before you finish the buff...

Gee, wonder why people would wanna fix that. Seems EVERYONE would love to use that for buffing :D

Yes. The omnibox is great and I almost pulled my frills out last night trying to get it to cooperate.

Is it possible to buff this way with the mentioned instruments on Resto?

+1 for making it easier to use.

Has the Dev team considered reaching out to another emulator team and asking if they would share the code that fixed this problem..?

I was a Master Musician shortly after the release and I can clearly remember that the Ommnibox didn't really cause any problems.

I am not interested in inspiring... I just want to be able to play both instruments without problems and of course you look around, click times other players etc. ...

How a solution is found I do not care... as long as it does not interfere when playing or is to play only with Macro, because probably with the mouse to click the hotbar probably also probleme makes.

i.e. I've only read here that there is probably even a workaround. Ingame I have only found errors :(

so a fix will be nice. thank you

Edit :
I have now tried something around. with the tipps i can get the Nalargon to run... no issue. The Ommni box whines without end... The runs at most in the group if you do nothing but keep the thing in focus. But unfortunately I could not try it now.
Constantly came the message that I have no instrument ... or I sat then behind it on the floor or he has stopped in the middle again

Most entertainers want to be able to inspire other players with these instruments. I could play these instruments but once I move my cursor to click on the buffs they want I stop playing and ruin their buff. Thats the issue we want fixed. Being able to play them easily and do inspiration buffs as well.

so i can't play the ommnibox. The Nalargon goes without problems if you know the trick.
That's why I said even without the inspire it is just difficult to not possible to play.
i.e. for me either way a bug

I have to revive this Zombie thread. New player here, my two chars are mEnt/mMusician/mDancer. Apart from the realization that I need to master both Musician and Dancer to be able to provide 20pt buffs (which means my chars can't have a 2nd career), not being able to play the Nalargon and still interact with the environment is my biggest disappointment. The workarounds in this thread don't work for me. I can keep the Nalargon targeted, if necessary, but I cannot keep the mouse pointer on it, for reasons. Sadly, this is game-breaking for me, again, for reasons.

Entertainer could use some love on Restoration: 20 pt buffs require Dancer AND Musician; Omni-Boxes and Nalargon's do not work.
