Master Tailors Should Craft Clothing Recolor Kits

Master Tailors Should Craft Clothing Recolor Kits
This idea/suggestion is Open. You can respond to ask questions or discuss the idea and either vote it up or down if you believe it should or should not be implemented, respectively. Popular suggestions and ideas will be considered by the development team to become reality in-game.
Proposal
Enable master tailors to craft clothing recolor kits. If there is still a desire to have the recolor kits remain rare, the recolor kits can be made up of rare tailor components that randomly appear when crafting any tailor item (low percentage occurrence with RNG). If the goal is to improve quality of life by making the item as common as armor color kits, then no need to have them be made of rare components.
Justification
This change improves design diversification for clothing and quality of life -- enabling players to express their own unique color styles in the tradition of Sabine Wren. To enhance the tailor profession, another profession (like droid engineer) that is sidelined and not profitable compared to armorsmith and weaponsmith. Adding this item will give the tailor a consumable item to sell, increasing their profit margins.
Motivation
To reasonably increase the profitability of tailor, thereby incentivizing more players to make a tailor and to promote player style and expression.
Enable master tailors to craft clothing recolor kits.

Master tailors should be able dye all clothing with all colors available. No A, B, whatever breakdown. All recoloring can only be done by master tailors ensuring they get the repeat business.

ABack then, the image designer was such that you could see what the master was doing. I think this would be the solution for clothing painting as well, where the tailor paints and the player sees the result. If it goes well, the business could go well.

If something like this were to be implemented, would tailors be allowed to recolour clothing items received as drops or quest rewards?

I like the basic idea, and also wholly support the "extended palette" idea.

Maintain the existing base color palettes, but allow tailors to apply an additional service fee for dye sessions. Introduce an advanced option enabling precise hue selection via HTML color code input. 😉

Really appreciate all the ideas in here, this has been super helpful to read through.

We’ve been taking a step back and looking at Tailor more broadly, not just recoloring, and a lot of what’s being discussed here lines up with the direction we’ve been thinking about, especially around making Tailors more involved in the customization process.

We’re also looking at how materials and crafting inputs contribute to the value of clothing, so that what goes into an item matters more than it does today.

Nothing concrete to share just yet, but the goal is to make Tailor feel more interactive, more social, and give it stronger repeat business.

Please keep the ideas coming regarding coloring and customization, this kind of feedback is exactly what helps shape where we go with it.

Just a bit of related nonsense; my apologies if it's too off-topic.

Is there a way to allow Appearance-equipped clothing to layer in ways it wouldn't normally? For instance, allowing pants to appear under a dress or a skirt? (It could look like tights.)
