- Proposal
- Create a new Entertainer Mission
- Justification
- The current Entertainer Mission system can interfere with performances and the prompts can be lost in the shuffle of system messages. The pass/fail mechanic can be punishing as well.
- Motivation
- The desire to see a more engaging and ergonomic Entertainer Mission system.
Hello!
This is a proposed change to the current Entertainer Mission system.
This would be a modification to current pop up mini games such as the droid repair mini game and the surveying pop up.
Once a player accepts a mission and begins performing, the timer begins.
After a few minutes, a pop up appears. This will contain information about the patron currently watching/listening to you. The patron does not need to physically be there, they can exist in this window, The window will give information about the type of patron, which will give the player a clue as to which type of inspiration they require. The patron description is random, but will require a specific inspiration in order to win a bonus percentage to the mission payout. If you apply the incorrect inspiration, or ignore the patron, they will be unhappy and you will receive a reduction percentage to the mission payout.
Players will be able to skip a patron if they are busy with a real player or if they are unable to do the mission objective at that time; enabling them to still be able to get some reward at the end of the mission without a complete pass/fail. Similar to the Surveying pop up, this message can also hang here indefinitely, causing the mission timer to be suspended until an action by the player is taken. This will discourage afk play as it will never complete the mission on its own without player interaction with the pop up. If a player decides to ignore all patrons, the mission payout will be significantly less than if they were to apply the correct inspiration.
For example: over the course of ten minutes, three patrons will request an inspiration. Each time the player gets the inspiration correct, their payout will increase by 10%. If the inspiration given to the patron is not what they wanted or if they are ignored, the mission payout will be reduced by 30%.
When a patron is ready to be inspired, clicking the Apply Inspiration button will open a new pop up with a short list of buff packages. The player must match the buff package to what most closely resembles the name of the patron.
Example:
First Window
--------------------------------------------------
A Clumsy Brawler is ready to be inspired!
--------------------------------------------------
Apply Inspiration
Ignore
--------------------------------------------------
OK | Cancel
Next Window (assuming Apply Inspiration was selected):
-------------------------------------------------
Ranged Accuracy
Melee Accuracy
Ranged Speed
Melee Speed
Ranged General
Melee General
Defense General
Healing Efficiency
Opportune Chance
Flush With Success
PvP Damage Reduction
Amazing Success Chance
Hand Sampling
Resource Quality
Back
-------------------------------------------------
OK | Cancel
In this scenario, A Clumsy Brawler would want Melee Accuracy. Their name gives the player the clue.
Patrons can have names like: Sluggish Sniper, Frail Scrapper, Depressed Gambler, Fresh Recruit, Imperial Officer, Frugal Prospecter, Medical Student, Promising Researcher, and the like. You could add rare patrons that could give a higher payout bonus and have a more cryptic name.
This system would address several issues with the current Entertainer Missions:
1. It would remove command requests from the System Message tab. Pass/fail messages can still be displayed here, as they do not require player interaction.
2. It removes flourish requirements from mission objectives. This allows players to continue with their performance without risking a mission fail or muddying up their arrangement.
3. Removes the ability to afk credit farm. Since the patrons are random, and the choices are many, a player must interact with the menu in some capacity in order to compelte the mission, whether that is successfuol or not is up to the player's level of interaction.
thank you for taking the time to review this proposal. I look forward to reading your feedback.
