You must complete the
Tusken Scholar prerequisite quest to access this Heroic Instance.
You will need a group in order to complete this
heroic instance.
This instance has a lockout timer and is repeatable every day!
- Once you enter, the timer starts!
- Do NOT enter the instance until you have a group all ready to click on Kav
- Designate strategy and assignments PRE-entering
- Kinetic dmg, KDs, and snares so be prepared
- General group makeup req: Easy: 0 Jedi | Normal: 0-2 Jedi | Hard: 2-3 Jedi | Nightmare: 3+ Jedi
This instance grants 1 Mos Espa Token of Heroism upon completion.
Fun fact: the Tuskens CAN be knocked down themselves on Easy/Normal difficulties, but are
immune on Hard or NM, so get your therapeutic revenge on them while you can on those
earlier modes...they'll be doing it to you...A LOT.

Preparations
Before entering the Tusken King Army, also known as TK, here is some information on what awaits you.
- Large open area, (instanced city of Mos Espa)
- Tuskens do A LOT of knockdown, snares, and kinetic dmg
- Pre-assign group member tasks before entering, so everyone knows where they should be going
- This instance is timed at an hour
- After the hour you will be locked out until the daily reset
- This will not be easy - be prepared!
- Highly recommend crafted armor with Skill Enhancing Attachments(SEAs), also known as tapes
- Bring consumables; food and spice
- It is especially important to bring damage mitigation food, such as Exo-Protein Wafers and Synthsteak
- Doctor and entertainer buffs (recommend Kinetic resistance, as Tuskens fire kinetic ranged weapons)
- If your group happens to wipe, you are able to clone
- There are four difficulty modes available, the harder the difficulty the better the loot
- Womp Rat (Easy) / Bantha (Normal) / Rancor (Hard) / Krayt Dragon (Nightmare)
How to Enter
Once your group is ready, head to Mos Espa on Tatooine, and have everyone talk to Kav Goldor (/wp -3057 2087), first person chooses difficulty, and everyone else follows in.
Summary of instance
- There are 3 distinct phases in this instance:
- Liberate the City
- Rebuild the City
- Defeat the Tusken King
Liberating the city
Upon entering the instance, the group will be on the outskirts of Mos Espa. Head into the city towards the cantina, either ignore the mobs in the streets or kill them along the way, with the groups main goal of clearing out the cantina of all mobs, which will start the next part of this phase.
Once cantina mobs are handled, a new objective will pop for remaining buildings throughout the city, with a checklist of buildings you need to fully clear. For this phase, you will need 1-2 group members to stay behind and defend your newly liberated territory (the cantina), as elite mobs will spawn and enter the cantina periodically with the goal of killing your new friend who has joined the fray, Kav Goldor.
NOTE!: DO NOT let Kav Goldor die at ANY point during the remainder of these next phases, or you will fail the quest and your group will immediately be kicked from the instance.
With Kav Goldor being secured, the remainder of your team will head clockwise around the city (from 4 - midnight), starting with the starport and ending at Wattos junk shop. Building order is as follows:
Starport -> University -> Med Center -> Hotel -> Cloner -> Combat Hall -> Wattos
Nothing too taxing here, just *clear the mobs as quickly as you can in each of these buildings in order to end the assault on the cantina and begin the next phase.
*Note, the med center has a roving dog patrol outside the building that counts towards its quota, and he sometimes bugs on terrain, make sure you take him out.
Rebuilding the city
Mechanics of the phase: Immediately upon completion, a (non-visible) timed section will begin. Spawns around the city reset and begin to periodically appear at various locations both within and slightly outside the city limits. They will continue to do so until the phase ends, or they successfully kill 10 civilian NPCS (or Kav), in which case your group will fail the instance. Also during this time, roughly a couple minutes after this phase begins, a comm message will pop for all members saying that a particular building is under assault and needs assistance. Shortly after the comm message (20 secs or so?), a group of 6-8 Tuskens will spawn slightly outside the building called out, and proceed to walk into the buildings with the intention of killing the "yellow" NPCs newly spawned inside.
To successfully complete this phase, your team must not only protect all yellow citizens and experts around the city from death, but also designate expert destinations (thru right click radial prompt), after they spawn in the various buildings being periodically called out (
Mansion, Lone House, Slums). The amount of experts that CAN spawn at any location seems to be random, but are easily identifiable on the overhead map (m), as the yellow triangles that are NOT moving. Citizens that spawn instead of experts will immediately begin walking out of the building and towards the hotel. Your goal is to fully "staff" each of the buildings now listed in your quest log with 3 experts, before 10 citizens (or Kav) are killed.
IMPORTANT NOTE: experts are treated as civilians, and their deaths not only count against the 10, but also will mess up your staffing quotas as your goal is to hopefully be as efficient as possible with your staffing numbers.
Strategy for the phase: Here's where the individual skill and good team communication required ramps up. During this phase, your team has 3 priorities:
1: Keep Kav alive - he remains stationed in the cantina, if he dies it's game over.
2: Send experts to their destinations - 0-3 experts can spawn in Slums/Lone house, 0-5 in Mansion (bunch usually on the roof)
3: Don't let 10 civies die: The city streets need to be as cleared as possible of spawns to avoid collateral damage to civilians and expert NPCS.
Your strategy may well depend on the instance difficulty you chose, but a good basic outline of a plan might look like this, which hopefully your group communicated ahead of this step: (1 person in the north by slums, 1 in the middle by cantina, 1 in the south by mansion, 1 person sending experts, rest of team responding to callouts or where needed).
1. Protect Kav - can be a task everyone sort of "monitors" (if Kav gets attacked you will get a comm message) though it can be good to have a "middle city roamer" that will be tasked with clearing surrounding cantina and cantina adjacent areas.
2. Designate a mini-squad to respond to the 3 building call outs (
Mansion, Lone House, and Slums), that will bee-line to those areas when the comm message pops. The squad will have 1 person designated as in charge of "experts", which is a HUGE responsibility for success in this instance. Experts will slow walk towards their destinations, usually taking questionable leisurely paths, but a good rule of thumb is as follows:
MANSION - send experts to Spaceport, University, Med Center
LONE HOUSE - send experts to Cloner, Starport, Med Center
SLUMS - send experts to Combat Hall, Watto, or Cloner
These are the physically close destinations (therefore less time for them to potentially be attacked), HOWEVER, some buildings are better staffed early than others. The bonus you get for staffing is as follows:
Combat Hall - Spawns
Elite Militia all over the city
Medical Centre - Spawns
Elite Medics all over the city
Starport - Spawns
Y-Wing bombing runs all over the city
Wattos Shop - Spawns
Non-elite droids over the city
Cloning Centre - Activates a
Buff upon incapacitation which gives a heal and a small defensive boost
University - Gives a
Combat buff to help combat the Tuskens
Honestly the only one of these I ever really FEEL is the Combat Hall and to lesser extent Wattos, as the extra NPCs in the street engage the Tuskens all over the city and buy you time to help clean them up. Designate at your discretion.
3. Keeping the paths to buildings free and clear for your experts and citizens - the main reason for failure here is usually when a random mob spawn happens to pop right on top of or near a walking expert or civilian, and it isn't caught before that civilian is killed. They can spawn in RIGHT after one of your group went and cleared an area that looks clear, only to be surprised by that spawn.
Spawn locations to watch out for: Behind Mansion, by starport, by cloner, north by bank/combat hall. and the ones that surround the cantina with the goal of attacking Kav, some north of cantina, some south.
Once your final slow walking expert reaches the last building on your checklist, you win the phase and proceed to the final (much easier) one.
Defeat the tusken king
Congrats, you got through the really rough part. This phase everyone just needs to stop what they are doing and meet up outside of the back of the cantina (side facing towards the starport), and get rebuffed and ready for the boss fight. Nothing too crazy here, as there will be a wave of Tuskens prior to the King that will slowly walk from the starport towards the cantina, which are easily taken out, followed by another (tougher) group that also includes the King.
The NPCs will technically help you during this phase, if you wait for the mobs to get close enough for them to aggro, and at this point they are cannon fodder if you want them to be. The King himself is very bursty with big damage spikes, which seem to correspond to him spawning the dogs, but will need to confirm the mechanic next time in.
