This patch kicks off this year's Lava Fest, where all the lockout timers for Mustafar instances are lifted, and new items are available on the vendor. Also included in this patch are a number of bugfixes and quality of life improvements.
The Galactic Civil War is a core part of the story of Star Wars, and in SWG, it's the best example of what a sandbox game can be. In this Developer Diary, we'll be sharing the full scope of changes that are coming this year to the GCW, why we've decided to pour everything into this update, and why we're excited for everyone to be able to play it.
This is Part 3 of our Jedi Developer Diaries (see: Part 1: The Inciting Incident & FaQ and Part 2: Life, Death, and the Jedi Ecosystem). In this diary, we’re talking about how Jedi will attain and use the tools they need, as well as the consequences thereof.Jedi FashionOne key change we’re making right off the bat is that Jedi will wear both Robes and Cloaks. Each providing a specific purpose as described below. We’re working with our art team to modify the assets to work together, and to ensure all species can equip them.RobesA Jedi’s robes are a symbol of their rank. Outside of the Jedi Padawan and Jedi Knight robes, which are attained from their respective trials, Robes will be attained through the Force Ranking System (FRS) and can only be worn while maintaining the respective rank. Robes contain stats related to the Force (e.g., Max Force Power, or Force Power Regeneration). Other features of robes include that they do not decay and they can be recolored by Force Ghosts using a consumable mechanic (excluding the Jedi Padawan Robe). The following Robes will be available as part of our core design:
“These blast points are too accurate for sand people. Only Imperial stormtroopers are so precise…” The Why The Combat Upgrade has a relatively simple combat system compared to other eras of SWG: for the most part, it all comes down to manipulating how often you hit and get hit via Accuracy and Defense. For as simple as that can be, though, our first implementation of that system had some shortcomings:
“Do or do not. There is no try.” Today we’re reflecting on two years of SWG Restoration. After going live on May 28, 2021, we’ve seen a Combat Upgrade-inspired era of Star Wars Galaxies like never before. A lot has changed in the past two years so we’re taking the opportunity to look back on our past and celebrate our future. • Infrastructure - We’ve rebuilt and refactored a number of game systems and services.• Combat - Combat continues to be refined as we aim to maintain balance between professions with more to come.• Economy - The economy is routinely monitored and under control. Pricing is stable with inflation within its appropriate range.• Content - Significant releases over the past year including numerous community events and all of Mustafar.• Space - Space Bounties became a reality and space recently saw a hefty lift with new content and more tokens.• Jedi - The first two phases of Jedi Unlock have been released with the Village coming soon!• PvP - So many ways to participate - Open world, Invasions, Battlefields, bounties (ground & space) - all with no decay!
