Proposal
Make it so if you attack built structures such as the turrets and barricades you are flagged SF for PvP.
Justification
Having people come into an invasion and destroy all the structures to prevent being able to pick up the quests with no way to defend or fight back does not make sense. There needs to be consequences to actions instead of a free troll opportunity.
Motivation
Multiple times there has been characters show up to an invasion flag combatant destroy all the barricades and turrets and leave just to troll or deny content. The problem is there is no way to defend or prevent the uncontested destruction of the structures.
I am suggesting a change to City Invasion mechanics to allow for the defense of built structures during the invasion from combatants being allowed to destroy everything and leave just to troll groups or to freely collect a collection for a badge. There should be a mechanic that allows for the forced flagging of characters that attack structures just like the one used to flag if the General is attacked.
 
again, the discussion is how the invasions should be changed not about your schizo alternate reality memories of how it used to be.

Just sit in your wrong corner and be wrong. My response was they could just ask for it to be changed back to which the OP said "I would be ok with making the invasion areas pvp zones for 30 min during the invasion so you flag." You are just trolling and I guess can't admit a mistake about it was changed.

This is the best fix I think. It allows PVE combatants to still take part by building and shooting troops and vehicles, but if they want to destroy structures, they gotta be targetable by other players. That way people who are meandering through the starport during a war don't get uppity about being killed.
 
I like your suggestion fire because under the old way (that I guess is a fever dream) you had to be flagged to build the stuff inside the zone and that makes it hard on crafters. You suggestion allows crafters to stay pve and take part while flagging the people who attach structures/turrets as well as the general. Upvote.
 
Just like restuss you have to flag SF in order to enter PVP zone, invasions should be the same way. Unless you are a crafter, you should be instantly flagged SF. Right now it is just non-PVP's staying combatant building mass amounts of vehicles and destroying the build up while they are combatant, that is not PVE because you never flag. Enough cheating fix it, I am reporting this bug to you so it needs to be fixed, or we can just stop doing any invasions because this is a horrible setup and a blatant use of a flaw/exploit in the game.

They're not necessarily trolling. That's the game mode, it's intended to be PVE, defend the city.

Build the NPCs too. They will defeat the players coming in for you.

There are quests from the attacking Field Commanders/Field Generals on the attacking side give quests to destroy those towers/barricades and turrets.
 
My complaint isn't that combatant players can destroy the defenses, it's the ease with which they can do it. I was standing there spamming repair with my droid engineer a bit ago on a turret and it was telling me I couldn't repair it because it hadn't taken 10,000 points of damage. It was at 20% health. This was against a single player. I had repaired it once before, but then for whatever reason it didn't let me start repairing it again until it was almost dead. My suggestions would be some combination of:

1 - Get rid of the health check for repair
2 - Give all defensive structures a high defense against player attacks
3 - have the barricade buff apply to nearby structures as well as players
4 - Give all defensive structures a HP boost.

I feel like if you're a single player defender constantly repairing a single structure then a single player attacker shouldn't be able to destroy it.
 
This is a PVP vs PVE thing. Those players are taking part in PVE, not trying to ruin your day.

My suggestion is to just create a PVP zone around the general (whether it was like this or not in the past). This way PVE folks can do their thing and PVP folks can do theirs.
 
Upon doing more of these as a PVE player I think it's too easy for both sides. I ran into a defense where the attackers had built a substantial force and as a tank specced Jedi I was able to hold off roughly 1/3 of the attacking force by myself (with no real danger to myself, it was just hard to gather more than that). There were a few other people on defense, and even though they had built some pretty good defenses it didn't matter because we were easily killing or just holding back everything before it got too close to the general.

As a PVE player I still really don't want PVP to be required, but I think in these invasions the NPCs and structures should be beefier on both sides so that one (or a very few) players can't hold off an entire invading force by themselves, and conversely so that a very few players can't just steamroll through the defenses. But i think it would be cool if you were flagged for PVP and that gave you a buff to damage and defense against these NPCs so that it's equivalent to the current levels.
