Proposal
Introduce a Respec NPC with a few tradeoffs to make it fair.

Justification
Being able to respec without relying on other players and/or save valuable time.

Motivation
I think having convenient tools like this (with tradeoffs) is a good approach into making the game more enjoyable.

Introduce a Respec NPC with a few tradeoffs to make it fair.

The tradeoffs:
  1. Comes with a small credit fee, but saves time!
I don't want to propose a specific number, but 225k for ELITE Professions & 75k for CORE Professions seems reasonable.
    • For example, Master Combat Medic requires 135k credits to fully learn. Master Scout Requires 45k to fully learn.
So thats a 40% fee (god, hope I got that right).
  2. Could work like a skill trainer, providing options for specific trees (4xxx BH etc.).
  3. You can respec only into professions mastered before (hit Master Box).
    • Assumes the player has put in enough effort to master a profession on their own, so that they can save more time later.
  4. Spin groups will remain valuable and optional source of grinding a template.
    • You can actually profit from them as there could be players that can teach you.
I think this is a good idea, this will allow people to quickly swap between templates for a specific instance/fight etc.
Say you have a dust covered armor set suited for SL/Pistols and you want to do heroics, this is your time to finally shine!

NUMBERS ARE NOT FINAL, ONLY SERVE AS AN EXAMPLE FOR THIS SUGGESTION.
Jedi are disqualified from being able to use public service such as this.

Take a look at these suggestions in the comments to this PV as an alternative or add-on to mine:

i listed a few examples of me paying credits to save time , and i value my time enough that i would pay for insta factory runs
But you'd make credits off of those runs, making you spending credits irrelevant

yeah because insta respec into CH/Doc and farming for holos , would definitely not make me money right
and then insta respec into BH/master scout to harvest a good hide/meat spawn would also not make money ........

You'd still have to put in the time and effort to get those holos or spawns or whatever else you're gonna think you have instant access to if you could respec with an npc

If you say so but it's been a daily quest since I started doing it way before jedi were around
Though it seems maybe a glitch happened somewhere because in Sept 2023 it was 1/day like you said. My guess is something happened in a patch or update that Glitched it and they fixed in on 3/22/24. My apologies

Again this is a mostly pvp driven thing. Just make it work in certain areas and revert back when leaving so it can't be abused or impact other areas of the game. Sorry but you are right back to its about some not wanting to do some stuff they considered a waste of time but not wanting to see how that train of thought play outs in other ways.

Respcing for Heroics is different how? Oh wait you want to be able to be every class and every hybrid instantly for a so called cred sink that you will then make even more creds selling the nice stuff you get from these instances. Also those who don't spon to make creds never need to spin again which drops the low number already down not to mention other unintended/unknown consequences and will make the Jedi cry for being exlcuded. Just leave it alone

Again, if it's gated by price and timers, what possible consequences can you really see here? Sure, use a respec for heroics, now you're stuck with it for a week let's say unless you decide to spin into something else. What really is the problem there?

Jedi crying is what this server is all about right now. Making them cry about this would just be a plus.

The problem has been explained through 4 pages now. The crying somment is funny. If you could only respec 1/week and would have to spin to change before that time, that kinda defeats the purpose doesn't it? But I guess if it was that extreme, say 1/7 days and a bajillion creds that might, might, be ok. The length of time and creds would have to be long enough and high enough to make sure it would not adversely impact the other parts of the game (Sorry Jedi still a no no) and so you dont have the 3 alts equal everthing at once piece. (Edit - just like irl convenience costsm usually a lot )

I'm going to leave this PV open as a future possibility, but for the server we have now I don't think we will be adding a Respec NPC.

Spinning missions barely counts as content, but it is actually something that we think makes the game feel more like Star Wars Galaxies, and has a lot of positive flywheel effects that we like right now:
1. The more people are spinning, the better the new player experience is. As long as new players are arriving at the server that need to grind up their characters for the first time quickly, spin groups will have a need to exist. It would be a much, much worse experience if there were 1/10 as many people ever needed to do it. It's also one of the first places that new players are asked to work together, and they may make friends, etc. It's about them, not you.
2. The more people are spinning the better the Village experience is. Same deal, this XP grind goes a lot more smoothly the more people are out there doing it. We've even considered making the Village more accessible so that more people are able to join it right away and begin the XP grind, just so there's more activity in the area.
3. Yes, it's social. There are a lot of better, less brainless, more fun shared experiences in the game, but removing one of the core ones would be a net negative in the short term. I know a lot of people love their solo experiences in this game, but I think the main reason people stick around is that they make friends and actually engage in the MMO part of the RPG.

In another life where we were getting a hundred new players a day and never had an issue finding spin groups, absolutely I would love to give people more flexibility to avoid the boring parts of the game.

That said, with the upcoming profession changes, we are expecting to also be changing the Advanced Profession requirements, and giving everyone a "free" respec so that they can rebuild their skill trees. Likely that would just be in the form of refunding all of their XP from the skill boxes, since that's much more likely to be a smooth experience than building a new respec UX from scratch. So, there's a place for respecs (they came out first in the CU for this exact reason), but the game needs to be in a different state to get there.

Actually, a respec being a vet reward (1 use) might be a good idea.

I think the biggest issue with respecs is their use over and over.
